{Maui Update: Day 3}

Monday, May 31, 2010

Today we ...

Walked to the local farmer's market. (Two fist pumps for finding Husband's favorite leafy green).

Spent time in the sun at Napili Bay.

Drank this coffee for breakfast. (Indeed, it was).

Found jazz hands in the most unexpected places.

Read these two books.

Walked through a grove of mango trees.

Played with sea turtles. (Who Twinner said looked like gigantic Milk Duds under water).

And ate dinner on our balcony while watching the sun disappear into the ocean. Another GREAT day in Maui Waui.

Ps, Twinner's been covering me in sunscreen every 20 minutes in exchange for the use of my toothbrush. Sometimes you have to work out deals, even when on vacation.

XOXO

I love John Krakauer. Into Thin Air is great. Check out 'Under the banner of Heaven - a story of violent faith'. It's about the mormon fundamentalists and it's crazy! Loving your updates!!!

life of pi. sigh. love, love, love. napili...is that the beach with the crazy surgey/beach break?! where everybody gets washed onto the sand like beached whales? if you don't get up fast enough you get pummeled by another big wave? oh, i hope because that is eff-to the u-n.

I'm living vicariously through your inspiring trip, Emily. So what are your photography secrets? You always have such stellar photos. What kind of camera/lens/software do you use? Maui is really showing off your knack for the artistic! Rick tells me about Maui's amazing-ness, and I hope for a visit someday. (We honeymooned on the quiet isle of Kauai many moons ago. Lovely.)

I freaking love these posts...you twinners take vacationing to a whole new level. My twinner and I went on a 30th birthday trip to Santa Barbara and it was one of the best trips of my life. I love that you read Life of Pi...if I ever get a cat, I am naming him Richard Parker....

freiliun, the other day i was thinking of your restored bookcase again. you got some mad skillz lady.

a, hey hey hey. yes, that is the one. we loved watching all ages and sizes get beached. too funny. ps, gigantic eff into the ocean for you.

c, i use two different cameras, one is a simple point and shoot digital (Olympus Stylus 790 SW) which has been so good to me. it takes absolutely stunning photos. it's also waterproof, freeze proof, and drop proof, making it a perfect camera for active people like husband and i. the other camera i have access to is a Canon EOS Rebel w/ a 28-200mm lense. it takes fantastic photos as well. the only editing software i use is iphoto on my mac. i would love to learn photoshop someday, but in the meantime my macbook has proved itself faithful. hope this helps!

beans & seeds, i love it that you'd name your cat richard parker! a perfect name, indeed. ps, you are still my hero.

We're thinking about Hawaii in October, not sure which island(s) yet...but now I'm thinking Maui! Where the heck were you staying? I want to stay there just for the balcony-greatness! :) Have a safe trip home! xoxo-A

amber, great to hear from you! you must come to maui at some point, if not in october. best island EVER. a friend generously gave us their time share at valley isle. their website actually says it's located in lahaina, but it's about 5-8 miles north of there, just south of Napili Bay. http://www.valleyisleresort.com/ VRBO should have some great options for you as well ... already looking forward to hearing about your trip! xo

I love that you shared a toothbrush. Doesn't get much better and more personal than that. My boys are not twins, but mistaken for them often (I can't wrap my brain around that, but I see them all the time so of course see them through different eyes)... they are 1.5 years apart exactly. One is 4.5 and the bebe (yes, he still is my bebe) just turned 3 in April. They both have big brown eyes like Disney girls and make me swoon. I hope that they share toothbrushes in Maui some day.

sara, if they don't share toothbrushes, they will skivvies and laughs. brothers are best friends for life!

I sure hope so! Today they were fighting like my brother and I used to fight. I surely have gotten back payment for the booger that I was as a child. Just glad I didn't have a girl... I'd be dead before she turned 18 I'm sure of it. If I got paid back for MY teenage years (my mom and I were NOT in a good place, but love love love her like a BFF now, thank god!) - OY!

Not sure how I got off on THIS rant. I think you bring it out in me.

How is it possible that I am so smitten with you? Seriously. I hope that didn't make you want to mace me. I SWEAR I AM NOT CRAZY! (but aren't those the people you worry about? the ones who say they are normal?) again. i just BLATHER.

happy thursday, EMO and TIMO
