{Alaska Update: Day 4}

Today we ...

Ported in Skagway, Alaska.

And began exploring the city.

We found a train going up the White Pass.

A building covered in over 10,000 pieces of driftwood.

Fudge that tasted like a gigantic peanut butter cup.

A malamute husky named Denali.

Baby Jesus on the hood of this car.

A creek for the Mr. to play in.

A truck we wanted to hijack.

And the Public Library where we checked our email (not a bad view, eh?).

For lunch we ate grilled salmon smoked with Alder wood.

Panned for gold.

And found just enough flakes to buy a pack of gum.

Then we headed back to the ship.

And watched another amazing sunset ...

Tomorrow we spend two days at sea followed by a day in Victoria, British Columbia. Hope to post more photos soon!

Much Love.

This post is pretty much awesome. Particularly the driftwood house. The Jesus hood ornament and PB FUDGE!

Into the Wild, thanks for the quote to end your beautiful Alaska posts! I have always wanted to try an Alaskan cruise! What cruise line did you take! What tips do you have now that you're an expert?!?!

herebedragons, husband and i figured it would take the rest of our lives to collect 10,000 pieces of driftwood. which is why we liked this house so much. ps, what's the story behind your blog title? intrigued.

scatterbox, for real! chocolate & peanut butter is the reason why tim's favorite candy are reese's pieces and pb m&m's.

ben-ha-min, i vote you build a driftwood rickshaw for abby. ROMANTIC.

ellie, tips: budget $800 more for your vacation with checked luggage fees, tips, excursions, and expensive wifi :) ... definitely try and book your trip on a newer ship - royal caribbean and celebrity are good cruise lines. also, don't expect 5* dining ... the food is good, but nothing that will blow you out of the water. we had better fish and chowder in seattle than alaska. definitely try and do some of the excursions if possible ... we loved our kayaking excursion & trip to butchart gardens, but could have done without the salmon bake. if we had the benjamin's we would have gone dog sledding, whale watching, or have taken a helicopter tour of the mendenhall glacier while in juneau. be sure and check the cruise itineraries and see how many days you will be at sea. we had 4. which is a lot considering you can only do so much eating / napping / movie watching before you get stir crazy. next time we'll try and pick a cruise with more ports such as sitka and ketchikan. overall we'd definitely rate our cruise experience a 4+ out of 5. we would also tell you that balcony's are overrated. we saved $1,000 by choosing an inside cabin and just spent lots of time out on the deck. some friends of ours mentioned they paid tons of money for a balcony but were too cold to even go out and enjoy it. tim and i cut every corner we could given he is still in school, but we still had the time of our life. let me know if you have any specific questions and we'll do our best to answer! :) much love.

You and your Mr. are two of the cutest people I have ever seen in my life. I will never meet either of you but your blog always makes me want to dance, jump up and down or cry with happiness, which may sound odd, I know. Thank you for writing.
