i have read the book. enjoyed the book and look forward to the movie. i had a few struggles with the book and then i remembered it was/is elizabeth gilbert's life and journey not my own. i think the most memorable part of the book when she struggles to sit still while praying/meditate...i can relate. but can i say, how cool is it that one (elizabeth gilbert) writes her memoir and it becomes a best seller worldwide and then a movie in which you are portrayed by julia roberts...hello.
Hi there. I found your blog through a friend. I am now a fan. (: I have just started reading her follow up book "Committed" and love it. I hope the movie stays true to the book!
i struggled with the book so much (mostly in the "Pray" part) that I quit reading it....it made me real sad. Wish I had though to look at it like Nicole did!
I struggled with the book as well, but loved the premise. I wish I could take the time and just travel like she did and immerse myself in cultures. Would be so amazing!
I felt the same way in the beginning, but after sticking with the book-ended up loving it! I love Julia Roberts and do want to see the book. However, I rarely like the movie of a book that I love- Definitely want to see it though!
I wasn't sure how they could transform the book into a movie -- how do you write a script from a personal memoir, with someone's messy life that doesn't follow the formula of a traditional story?
But it looks like "Eat, Pray, Love" just might do it. (Or at least take Elizabeth Gilbert's main message from her book and turn it into a beautiful story that makes sense on screen.)
Either way, I'm there, Kleenex and a secret stash of dark chocolate at the ready.
The book was pretty good (and yes, this is from a guy's point of view). I too struggled with the "Pray" section at times, but you do have to remind yourself that this is someone else's journey. Based on the trailer it looks like they are going to keep pretty honest with the book which is a relief. And who wouldn't be excited since Julia Roberts is the star (she is by far my favorite actress). However, based off of watching the trailer, i'm not so sure she will live up to Elizabeth Gilbert's quirkyness in the novel.
the movie will be off the hizzy if it's interactive for that section. when are we going? wanna bring a pie from eno's in case? oh, yeah, and one of my fave characters was the guy from TX. just sayin's all...
I LOVED the book and of course was nervous about the movie... They never seem to live up to the books. But, after seeing the trailer, I'm pretty excited. It looks great! And any trailer that starts with a Ryan Adam's tune has got me sold! You should definetly try to read the book.
Mr. Loerke and I have been married for 7 years. We like to dance in our jammers, sleep late in the biscuit, build forts, write each other love letters, and spend lots of time in the kitchen experimenting with food. We also get to ask for each other's forgiveness every day. (more)

I struggled with the "Pray" part, too. The "Eat" part, however, I had no problem with!
