{A Safeway Fire Truck}

Thursday, April 14, 2011

"When I was younger, my favorite thing to do was ride the fire truck outside of Safeway. My dad always said I should save my money for something better, but I could drive it for miles and always end up back at the Safeway & all it cost was a quarter & I can still can't think of anything better than that." - Story People

I found the above photo on my iPhone last night and it reminded me of one of my favorite series by Brian Andreas called Story People. Have you heard of it? Once I found an autographed copy at the Goodwill for 2 dollhairs. TWO DOLLHAIRS. To this day it is still remains one of my favorite books and Goodwill finds.

Random fact: 99 years ago today the Titanic sunk 345 miles southeast of St. Johns, Newfoundland. I'm pretty sure one of my friends has seen this movie at least 99 times. (Stephanie Tyroch please confirm). What movie have you seen the most? Breakfast Club? Goonies? ET? (no shame if you confess Top Gun. I was in love with Maverick, too).

Hope your Thursday morning is off to a great start. At least we're not on a sinking ship!
XOXO

The American President - I have it on DVD, before that I had it on video - I watch it every time it's televised. Me and my Mum can quote it!

Mamma Mia is the only film I've seen 3 times at the cinema

Raising Arizona. The Cowboys. Unforgiven. Fandango. Many, many, many times. The Name of the Rose was powerful enough just once. The sinking of the "unsinkable" Titanic should have been the ultimate lesson against absolutism, but alas, it lives on...

There were so many as a kid (Ninja Turtles, Turner & Hooch, Lion King), but now it's definitely Keira Knightly's Pride & Prejudice. Jim Carey's The Grinch & Will Smith's Hitch come close, though! :)

there was a summer that i went to bed every night to sleepless in seattle. i didn't even like the show. i think because it put me to sleep and happened to be in the vcr. but it has been written on the tablets of my heart. . .

i know words verbatim to billy madison, best in show, and austin powers. this was a phase in high school, thanks to a group of awesome friends (abby dennis, please confirm)

and could probably run pretty close with pride & prejudice now as an adult. . . boosh

it kind of depends....
also, just because i watch it a lot doesn't mean it is my absolute favorite. i would say the go-to movies for me are... mrs. doubtfire, notting hill, love actually, my best friend's wedding, stepmom, and remember the titans. okay, that was a lot :-D

No joke: I have been counting down until Titanic's 99th anniversary today. I am the fan that says that actor's lines as they themselves are saying them (most people hate that...). When I was 11, I told my mom I was going to grow up to be an oceanographer so that I could go down and see it one day.

Thanks for the random fact that was not so random to me :)

I have seen the first Harry Potter movie probably 100 times. I have seen it so much that I now use it as background noise for studying. Because it makes me happy when studying gets me down. Also, the Little Mermaid. LOVE IT.

When I was young it was Mary Poppins, but not because I wanted to watch it. It was my cousins favorite.
When in college it was Emperor's New Groove + The Patriot. Over + over again.
Now that I'm a mama I've lost count of how many times we've watched Finding Nemo. I still sit down to watch it with my little guy and enjoy it every time.

I've seen An American Tale: Fievel Goes West at least 1,419 times. It was my little brother's OBSESSION for years. We would literally watch it as many as three times in one day. I can still quote the WHOLE THING.
