Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, reason #981 why I love Thee: you taste my coffee before me so I don't burn my face off. Dear Heavy-Heartedness, sometimes you hit me sideways but then I see things like last night's harvest moon and am reminded that all is well. Dear Papa, today is your 63rd birthday. Sending you a virtual homemade coconut cream pie with a 3 egg mar-an-gue. (To be eaten for breakfast of course). Dear Husband, yesterday marked the end of your 5th rotation. This left us no choice but to celebrate with a late night shakies run to Sonic. SO. PROUD. OF. YOU.

The harvest moon was beautiful last night...though I did not sleep well. And congrats to hubby!

Full moons typically are associated with insomnia, and with last night's whopper, it seems to have caused a lot of "couldn't sleep" comments on my Facebook page. It also apparently was very much the case for my dog, who, in turn, kept us from sleeping and me wanting the cat to step up and handle the situation. And by "the situation", I mean the dog.

Next up is Endocrinology at the Dallas VA. I will specifically be working with patients who have complex diabetic and cholesterol problems. Should be fun!

My husband-in-two-days taste my coffee for me first too =) I love it because would always burn my tongue otherwise! (Except that to watch out for my skin extra carefully, I haven't had it all month leading up to the wedding!)

I wonder if everyone born today is a coconut lover? Just had some Coconut Chocolate Cheesecake for my Birthday today.

Aw, I always burn my tongue too because I'm oober impatient hehe... I try to stick to cold drinks now but pumpkin season is sneaking up and I HAVE TO HAVE my pumpkin spice lattes! Or pumpkin anything for that matter :) Just made pumpkin scones the other day, YUM! But I digress...!

Happy bday, Em's papa!

HAPPY ALMOST FRIDAY! <3

Thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes today! Yes, I think that everyone born on today day are SPECIAL! Amy, try pumpkin Woopie pies for extra fist pumps and extraordinary high leg kicks. They will change your world. Tim, remember that no one dies from diabetes, only complications caused by diabetes! Lack of exercise, poor eating habits SUCKS! Hope everyone enjoyed the FULL MOON on the 23rd. Papa

Very true, Pops! I told my patients all last month that the diabetes will always be there even after they have lost all the weight and their blood sugars are normal. What goes away are the complications or at least the risk of complications. So many patients with diabetes are on antihypertensives and cholesterol meds...along with all their glucose lowering agents...with strict diet and exercise that results in weight loss, all of that medication could go away.
