Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, Friday night we went to The Pearl Cup for dirty chai's and talked about how we can do a better job of communicating & loving one another this week (last week bombed). So grateful to tag team with you this beautiful thing called mawwiage. Dear Tante, thanks for the hour walk yesterday. It was lovelier than the 2 hour nap I took in Husband's fort. Dear Budget, we selfishly chose pumpkin ice cream and Magic Shell over groceries this week. Our grocery balance is now $27 for 7 days. Considering the AWESOMENESS of this Fall dessert I think we made the better purchase. Dear Husband, sometimes city life & studying can make us crazy. (Insert surprise kayaking date at the lake here).

Team Loerke wants to know what's the one thing you blow your grocery budget on?

Two milkshakes (okay so thats like £4 but sometimes thats a lot!) so that me and Chris chat stuff through and not get distracted by home stuff.

Or an £8ish cinema ticket so that we could go to the cinema (I have a unlimited card so I can go as many times as I like in one month)

P.s. I know it's a wierd thing to say but it's good to hear you had a sucky week because then I remember you are human and sometimes stuff does suck and it's not all rainbows and sunshines so leg kicks for being honest and shimmies for doing something about it and trying to fix it :D

OMG. That picture is hilarious!!! Oh I'd blow my budget on sweets for sure! I could eat Froyo everyday and be happier than eating real food :x

My boyfriend sometimes blows our grocery budget on an awesome new record. I have been known to blow it on scrap booking or crafting supplies. Huzzah! Everyone can live on Ramen Noodles for an entire week from time to time.

I blew my grocery budget on ice cream this week too! More often than not, I end up going out to eat one too many times so my grocery budget takes a hit. Oops.

Trout with the heads on! Way more expensive, but local, sustainable, and you can make them talk before and after cooking. :)

flavored coffee creamers, chocolate chip cookies + vanilla ice cream! yum!

What flavor of magic shell did you get to go with pumpkin icecream?

I love to kayak!!! Best place ever was in Tahoe. Or once went on a dolphin kayak trip at Hilton Head. That was awesome too. Anyway ... pumpkin ice cream sounds like a great budget blower to me!

Surprise kayaking date?!?! That makes me excited just thinking about how awesome it must've been!

We blow our grocery money almost weekly on a dinner from Chipotle & a trip to our local frozen yogurt place - it's self serve pay-by-weight, we always end up with $10 cups of froyo (each). It's sooooooo worth it!
We live off of spaghetti & bean burritos the rest of the week...

Holy cow, I blow my groceries budget on cheese! What moldy goodness! It is good on everything, except dessert, but thankfully there's chocolate for that!

I let the grocery store sales pick what I eat week by week, but if they have good seafood on sale, Ill spend more than i oughta on fresh wahoo or yellow fin tuna.

we are both experts at destroying our grocery budget in the freezer + treats section of trader joe's.

time spent in this dangerous aisle always results in both of us standing at the shopping cart clutching multiple ridiculously amazing sweet concoctions. joe joe's ice cream or peanut butter filled pretzels, for example.

these things are not on the list. they kill our carefully crafted budget. but they go home with us. and we love them so.

My mind couldn't think of much other than pumpkin ice cream and Magic Shell topping after reading this. So right after my final tonight for one of my grad classes I booked it to Target and ate a big bowl for dinner. Best idea eva! Infinity fist pumps for your brilliant dinner ideas!

han, holy unlimited movies batman. re: marriage, it is not always apple pie at casa de loerke. even in our pro-active approach to loving each other weekly we often fall short and drop the ball. good news is that there's always a new week :)

michelle, froyo is the way to my heart. totally hear you on that one.

sara, agreed. insert mac-n-cheese for us this week. no regrets.

becca, a fellow ice cream lover. i like it.

anony, papa is that you?

shandell, you are a candy coffee girl ;) we use dryers slow churned pumpkin with chocolate magic shell. nom nom nom ...

darla, you might be the mr's new hero.

megs, it was indeed! he was beyond thrilled when he saw the lake (he thought we were going to a pumpkin patch). ps, chipotle is within walking distance from our house and i heart yogurt & pinkberry are a bike ride away. DANGER.

shay, wonderful meeting you too! i'm so grateful you said hi. three fist pumps for your 5k and for sitting at one of my favorite places. maybe i will run into you there again soon :)

malsi, your comment made me laugh out loud. the loerke's couldn't agree more. we ate a block of cheddar cheese on our first date. it was sick. but oh so GOOD.

myk, fish is a great splurge, esp when it's wahoo or yellow fin. ps, try butter fish if you can get it. UHMAZING.

diane, you are a trader joe's junkie? love it! their peanut butter filled pretzels ARE the shiz. also tj chocolate covered edamame, fruit roll pieces, 2 buck chuck, corn bread mix, and chocolate bars. can't. get. enough.

mrs. t, cinnamon toast crunch was totally my comfort cereal growing up. now i'm a wimp and can hardly finish a bowl.

brittany, shut the front door. really? we were destined to be friends. check us out on twitter to see tonight's ice cream feast. dryers slow churned pumpkin with chocolate magic shell = fall mind blowing autumn revelation. ps, grad school?? where you be??

I totally blew my most of my grocery budget last week on snacks for the TX-OU game... blue cheese chocolate and french bread for paninis, artichokes, jalapenos, green chiles for a wicked spicy dip and also strawberries and pretzels for a salty-sweet salad that I can't get enough of. It was worth it though. Last night we ate leftover kibbi and ice cream cuz it's all we had in the fridge!

i blew my grocery budget on a new pair of boots. oops! :) cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner this week...

neighbor, in high school i would go through an entire case in less than a week. now i'm a water girl through and through.

morgandkim, what's your favorite cheese? we can't get enough of manchego, goat, and baked brie.

sweet annie, i should have known. olallieberry head.

evelyn, i wish we would have come to your house to watch the tx/ou game.

plainlyjane, cereal is one of my favorite meals! (and totally worth eating for a good pair of fall boots).

haagen dazs... the vanilla honey bee flavor, to be precise... this week, I bought 6 pints instead of my usual 2, so Hubby had to stretch a package of ground beef a little farther than usual... I'm so lucky that he does all the cooking... *swoon*

PS, I love your blog and read it daily. I've been married two and a half years and you are an inspiration to me. Blessings on you both from So Cal.
