Husband's Letters: Dear Mrs. Loerke, sometimes you ask me to sleep on your side of the biscuit so it will be warm when you get in. I give you 10 points for creative use of Husband. Dear Physician Assistant Blog, this month you turn 100 posts old! It's hard to believe you began at the start of my PA education. Only 175 more days until graduation! Dear Commerce, TX, please be kind as I drive over 2.5 hours to visit you each day. The Fart Box can't take many more commutes. Dear Little, do you know how excited I am about our Thanksgiving road trip to Tulsa? I especially can't wait to play the iPod game with you.

Love,
Husband

The Mr. asks: What's the longest road trip you've ever been on?

cute picture!!! longest roadtrip would probably be oregon to new mexico and back around. But most grueling would definitely be guadalajara, mexico to the gulf of mexico ... on motorcycle! (OUCH!)

Congrats on the 100th blog, Tim!! I miss posting those for you :( Can't believe you are nearing the end of your PA school journey...

PS - My longest road trip was Philly to Florida in 1999 with the fam, believe it or not, to see the Daytona 500. Let's just say it was an experience.

My longest road trip was probably the trip from Corpus Christi, TX to Temperance, MI to visit family for Christmas. It takes almost a day to get through Texas! I have also done the trip from Texas to Delaware several times. We love roadtripping!

Too many, but I (at 25 years old) once traveled in June from Fayetteville, NC to Omaha, NE by myself and no air conditioning. Good times. When I road trip now...I take all my classic rock CD's (Elton to Aerosmith to Roberta Flack) and seat dance, sometimes conduct and just sing my heart out!!

Some friends and I once drove from New York to Wyoming for Spring Break (not exactly the most obvious Spring Break destination, I know). I had a fever of 102.5 the day we left and the first half of the trip was an absolute blur, but it ended up being one of my favourite college memories.

What is the iPod game!? Sounds like fun!

Longest road trip - Kentucky to Florida. Or Dallas to Albuquerque! :)

I've done a few three day driving trips (UT to DC, Beaumount TX to UT, TX to IL) with family and friends, but the longest I've driven all by myself has been 12 hour trips each way, from DC to Nashville and DC to Lousville and back. 24-30 hours alone in one weekend is hard, but so worth it!

The farthest we've gone without ditching our car away and hoping a plane in the process in NC -> CO. I cannot even imagine what a coast to coast trip is like!

I am also looking forward to learning more about the iPod game.

from Kingston, Ontario to NYC!!!!! with my personal chef and it was an AWESOME trip. I forget sometimes that Kingston isn't really that far from LOTS of things...

What is this iPod game???

I love to drive. I so want to get an RV and just drive all over the place. The longest road trips have been from Nebraska to Phoenix (several times) and Nebraska to Lake Tahoe. Both are about 20+ hours.

In 2008, we took our 4 children on a road trip from San Diego to the Grand Canyon in AZ and then on to SLC, UT and then back home to WA state. It took several days, 30 hours of driving and was about 2300 miles. It was sort of crazy being in a car with 4 children for that amount of time. Can't even begin to count how many times we heard "Are we there yet?" or "I need to go to the bathroom" or "She's touching me" but it was also one of the greatest experiences our family will ever have.

As our children get older and busier, it gets harder and harder to carve out family time. We treasure every road trip [big or small] we can get!

i love reading about all of your road trips! some of you have put more miles on your car in one week than we have in 5 years. i love it!

iPod Game: one person puts in the headphones and picks a random song to sing for the other person to guess. they get three guesses before their partner gets a point. if they guess it right they get a point. first to 10 points wins. the key is to turn the volume up loud enough so you can't hear yourself sing (and so the other person doesn't hear the song). sometimes it helps us introverts to rock sunglasses like lionel richie when playing the ipod game. esp in large groups of people.

This summer, I drove from San Diego, CA to Jackson Hole, WY (and back.) Then, I drove from San Diego, CA to Eugene, OR (and back.) Then, I drove from San Diego, CA to South Bend, IN, for a total of 6,000 miles!

And, when I got to Indiana I realized my license had been expired for all three trips. Ooops!

Happy roadtrippin! Make sure to pack good snacks and music that makes you wiggle your toes.

Longest - Plymouth, MI to Kilgore, TX for summer stock at the Texas Shakespeare Festival. Have a blast on your trip!

Last year at this time the husband and I drove 14 hours to eastern Ohio to buy a Jeep (and then got right back in the truck and came home). Worse for him - I was just the passenger and took a couple accidental naps!

Longest road trip was from Dallas to Key West to Virgina, then back to Big D!! Holla!

i am not totally sure. it was either on a youth group trip to wyoming or when my family and i went on a trip to the east coast. i think wyoming wins though at 15 hours and lots of desert.

longest road trip ever? pensacola, florida to seattle, washington. so amazing and intense you couldn't believe it. we felt like lewis and clark minus sack-a-wha-gee-uh because the farthest west we had ever gone was vicksburg, mississippi (what the what?)

p.s. if lionel were to ever take a roadtrip he would drive ALL NIGHT LONG. (: get it?

awww! my husby does that for me all the time. at least, until we finally get the heated mattress pad on the bed each winter.

ha! i think we might play the ipod game without going on a road trip...the winters can be long and cold and boring up here.

it is quite the drive from eureka, ca to phoenix, az...we've done it several times!
but the longest ever was from phoenix,az to binghamton, ny. ...36 hours. oy!

sending you bubbles of love and safety and blessings for the road!
may the force be with you.

My family used to drive from CA to FL in the summers to visit my mom's side of the family, but as an adult I'd say the longest road trip was Johannesburg to Cape Town, South Africa. Absolutely amazing!!

Labor Day weekend of 2001, my mom told my younger brother, 2 younger sisters, and I that our dad wanted to take a road trip. Being from Dallas, we assumed he wanted to go to Austin, Rockport (near Corpus), or San Antonio - somewhere fun for the family for the weekend. We were totally wrong. Where did he want to go? CANADA!! and yes, he wanted to drive there.

after many fist pumps and leg kicks (the argumentative kind of course), we purchased a TV/VCR for the car, rented just a few of our favorite movies, "packed" a bag and hit the road Saturday evening. many state line pictures, bathroom breaks, an argumentative 30 minutes with border patrol, and 22 hours later, we arrived in Canada around noon on Sunday...we drove around, stopped at a Taco Bell/KFC for lunch, WalMart for t-shirts, and about 2 hours later, headed back to Dallas, TX so we could make it back before school started back on Tuesday. On the way back, we stopped on the side of the road for about 3 hours so my dad could "sleep".

When asked why we did this, my dad replied "how many times can you go back to school after a weekend and when asked what you did, reply "oh, I went to Canada"...yeah, that actually happened.

Bedford to Inverurie in Scotland. Bedford is about 60 miles North of London. Inverurie is about 35 miles North west of Aberdeen - it took about 8 hours with various naps along the way. It was in my old Fiat Seicento - so the back seat isn't that big yet somehow I curled up in it and had the most amazing nap! It was awesome lol.
