{Thanksgiving Weekend}

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Mr. Loerke and I had a wonderful time celebrating Toerke Day in Tulsa with Tim's side of the family. We had two Thanksgiving dinners, played outside, attended the Utica Square lighting ceremony, roasted s'mores, watched football, and just enjoyed being with family. How bout you? Did you enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend? Please tell me some of you already have Christmas trees in your living room! (only 27 more days ...)

Not only is the tree up, every surface of the entire house looks at though Santa tossed his imaginary holiday-sprinkled cookies all over it. So pumped for another magical holiday. :)

Erik and I had a great Thanksgiving! We hosted and served 2 turkeys to our big family with a full table of 12. It felt like the Thanksgiving dinners in the movies with the big family, full table and lots of fun conversations. We have our Christmas tree and all our decorations out and up. And we're ready for lots of celebrations with friends and family throughout the rest of the year.

The Mr. and I got our X-mas tree two weeks ago....too soon? it is 4ft tall and fake. gasp. I know. tragic. BUT we are living in England for a year and I fully intend on keeping it up until we depart back to the US in Sept '11.

I'm hoping/praying that the pure sight of a Christmas tree, no matter how miniature, will cure any season affect disorder lingering amongst us SO-CAL natives. Apparantely..England is not known for being sunny...or warm..go figure?

OMGoodness Anna Claire (aka AC) always looks SOOOOO cute in pictures! Photogenic little child!!!! :D That black and white pic of her is SO. ADORABLE.

Our Thanksgiving weekend was fun!! Spent time with my stepmom's fam yesterday...got to love on my youngest siblings (Cassie (8), Garrett (6), Hilary (5)) and talk to my stepmom about the advantages of homeschooling. I'm so down with it once my hubby-face and I start a family.

And no, no tree yet. I'm such a procrastinator. (sigh)

We had an Indiana Thanksgiving this year- fired up the old wood stove, played lots of board games, watched some football, had a champagne toast, ate til we had food babies (then ate some more.)

And now we are rocking out HARD to Christmas Carol radio on Pandora, singing in our jamjams, and eating pb chocolate ice cream. No tree for us since we'll be traveling for the next few weeks, but we have the BEST advent calendar.

have you all heard about the "Advent Conspiracy"?

While most of my Canadian friends and family think Thanksgiving in November is strange, it was always the bringer of Christmas in our family. Since I've been in Canada for the last seven years (nearly..), I'm used to celebrating a small Thanksgiving in October (it's not nearly such a big deal like it is in the states), but still have a bit of longing for a good old fashioned BIG American Thanksgiving. Maybe we'll travel south next year and spend it with my family for a change.

we had a big meal for the soldiers stationed here that didn't go home at the bar my husband and i run. 80 beers on draft, 20 fried turkeys, 100 of our nations bravest and 15 beer pong tables added up to an unconventional frat-esque thanksgiving. we all got drunk. for america!

we've got christmas lights up on house the day after thanksgiving(old school multi colored ones) and just bought tree today which is covered in a bazillion white lights. we are usually not 'that family' but decided to try this since this is a hard season with just loosing our baby. trying to bring the light of the Lord in to our little home and hearts. kind of like 'if you build it, it will come'...if we light up our house, maybe some joy will come. loving your turkey day pics...thanks for sharing.
