Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, recently you showed me how to pull the covers over my head and shimmy sideways out of the biscuit to avoid having to make it. Reason #248 why boy roommates are AWESOME. Dear New Commenters, I think you are SO brave. Thanks for encouraging me lately with your thoughts. Dear Broken Washing Machine, after flooding our laundry room twice yesterday you A) heard me say 3 S-bombs B) forced Husband and I to learn about water pumps, transmission pulleys, and drain hoses C) were fixed after 4 hours of labor and a $3.38 piece of tubing from Home Depot or D) all of the above. Dear Husband, for Halloween you drew a beard on my face with smelly MARKERS (licorice and chocolate). This morning I woke up with a 5 o'clock Bob Ross shadow. Werd.

What was your favorite TV show growing up? I could watch Bob Ross paint happy little trees for hours.

In case you missed it, here's our post from yesterday about
{Our Story}.

Erm I dont remember lol. I used to watch The Simpsons lots but my Mum used to get irritated by how rude Bart was sometimes lol.

I used to watch a kids show called Rainbow when I was really little.

When I hit my teens I'd watch ER with my Mum on a Wednesday and then while eating tea we'd watch Buffy and/or Star Trek: TNG

P.s. I love the wig Em! I had a purple bob (think Kickass) and chickened out about wearing lol.

I did however paint my friend's shoulders face and torso blue which would have been okay except he's a guy and it was a little awkward lol. (We were stood in the middle of the church kitchen!!!) and Chris (my Hubby) had told me that was the next job I needed to while setting up for a youth event!

I could never figure out how Bob Ross could magically have a whole painting in 20 minutes. Pretty sure he was some kind of wizard.

And my parents tried to only have us watch OPB as kids (Wishbone, Arthur, etc, etc.). But my secret favorite show was the animated Spider-Man series.

I'd have to say my most favorite shows growing up were Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and M*A*S*H. We weren't allowed to watch daytime t.v. if we were home and the only channel we could watch when allowed was PBS. After dinner Dad would settle in for some t.v. and would let us watch M*A*S*H if Mom didn't know. Klinger had me so confused as a kid.

I can't believe you watched Bob Ross TOO!
My sister and I still talk about the happy little clouds! FUN!
But my fave was Brady Bunch reruns.. I loved that show!

We mostly watched PBS shows, although admitedly not very much. When I was about 7, my mom says that I came up to her during dinner prep and said, "Mom, the presentation on that is all wrong!" Apparently this was her first clue that I had been watching cooking shows. Strangely, I did tend to favor the cooking and construction shows (and WISHBONE, of course).

Loony Tunes. Any cartoon that was written with brilliant dialogue that only an adult would understand while still entertaining children is a thing of beauty. To this day, I still pronounce the city in New Mexico as "Al-buh-koy-kee"

If kids today still had access to Bob Ross on a regular basis, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't see so many of them hopped up on the Ritalin. Sedative-au-naturale, he was, and no white man wore an afro better. Except maybe you. As a girl, of course.

I bet you rocked that 5 o'clock shadow. Let's get Tim to weigh in on that come Friday.

My favs growing up: Cosby Show, Gilligan's Island, the Sid and Marty Krofft shows, Brady Bunch (only because that's what my sister watched during her half hour), the Hanna Barbera cartoons, and pretty much anything else that helped pass the time between the end of school and the start of dinner. And in case you were wondering (and I know you were), my favorite after school snack was a honking big bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. Couldn't get enough of that stuff while sitting in front of the tube.

I totally used to watch Bob Ross too!! My grandma had every tv in her house tuned to PBS. I'd spend summers at her house, watching Bob Ross and playing badminton in the TX heat. Ah, the memories.
I loved Punky Brewster, Brady Bunch, Who's the Boss, Blossom, Full House, Smurfs...

I wanted to be Punky Brewster. Real deal. High five for you being the cutest Bob Ross ever.

My all-time favorite kids show was definitely My Little Pony. I'm such a girl. But I do remember watching Bob on my Grandma' TV in her bedroom when I would spend the night with her. She was one of those types to sleep with the TV on all night. I don't know what time he came on, but I always remember watching it while in her bed...

PS: I maybe might have Season 1 of My Little Pony in my DVD collection. Possibly.

I definitely watched Japanese versions of Power Rangers with English subtitles. I still hold that this is the reason that Air Force kids are so much better at reading.

Bob Ross rocks! (Love, love, love that costume!!) My husband finds it so relaxing to watch Bob Ross....he usually falls asleep if it happens to be on. The perfect Sunday afternoon napping soundtrack!

My fave shows as a wee one: The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Mr. Dress-up, Mr. Rogers and the Friendly Giant (a Canadian Classic!!)

How did I forget Punky Brewster?!? You make me feel so young again... or old- I can't remember?! I just got so pumped about seeing Punky Brewster, Full House, Who's the Boss, and Growing Pains.... and lets not forget The Facts of Life-- that I did the MC Hammer dance across my office because.... U Cant Touch This

Woody the Woodpecker.

I think it's cause my momma thought he was "fresh" and didn't like us to watch him.

Best Halloweenies ever! You guys looked great :)

Love the picture! Did the beard wash off?

You as Bob Ross! Love it.

My fave shows growing up were all the "boy" cartoons, influenced by watching with my dad. Like Thundercats + He-Man. awww yeeeeeah!

I like that bed-making trick..I use it every day. Hubby, on the other hand, tosses the covers back and just leaves it unmaid. I'll have to teach him this trick.
Nice Bob Ross, by the way!
I watched too much TV as a child. Full House, Step by Step, Family Matters, Cosby Show...
And yes, I did watch Bob Ross on PBS quite often. He did have quite soothing voice.

Tayler said...

I'm only 21 so my shows weren't that too long ago.. but I loved Boy Meet's World!
PS. I am going to start shimmying sideways out of my bed to keep from having to make it. Thanks for the tip! ;)

Han said...

Tayler I loved Boy Meet's World but it was only on during the holidays lol.
