Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, before going to bed we like to talk about where we'll meet in our sleep. A couple of nights ago it was an igloo in Alaska, then a cabin in Colorado, and last night the teepee in our living room. I love being your wife. Dear Winter Hat & Scarf, 3 points for making me feel like Marge Simpson, 4 points for having a secret compartment for Mikey's marble bag. Dear Sister-in-Love, yesterday the Pony Express delivered the most unexpected and amazing package. Who knew pickles could make a girl so happy? Beyond blessed by your thoughtfulness. Dear Husband, only 2 more days until you get a break from rotations. Pretty sure this calls for celebratory cupcakes from our favorite bakery. BAM!

Receiving gifts is wonderful, but often times giving them is way more fun. What gift(s) are you most excited about giving this Christmas?

The international variety. I got a book from my penpal in the US and as i sit here I've just written a letter for you two and going to mail it this afternoon - hopefully it'll get there before Christmas :)

I'm playing Dirty Santa tonight with summer camp staff and the theme is "The camp item you can't live without." I'm wrapping up a cute journal with a pen and a flashlight. I couldn't live without writing all the crazy thoughts and feelings you always have when being at camp! Something about being outdoor all day long (YEAH!) getting paid to play with kids (YEAH!) and being around fellow camp staff and friends 24/7 (YEAH!)...you can't help but grow and mature and learn more about yourself every day that goes by. I'm excited to explain this tonight. :)

My daughters' gifts. I can not wait to see the joy on her face when she opens all the princess stuff we bought her. ( shes 3, and I can not wait to see the joy of opening Santa's gift too!) The next one I'm excited about is my sis in laws gift. We normally don't exchange but this year I saw this necklace that had her humor but was completely her style too. I can't wait to see her smile and hear her laugh. Finally I'm excited about my super secret gift to my hubby.

I can't wait to give my grandmother the gift card for a manicure and lunch I got her. I love spending time with her and hearing her stories. This gift guarantees that I get a day with her all to myself!

husband and i bought my padre an ipad and uploaded pictures of our family, music that reminds him of home, and his favorite movies. we just sent it to him in afghanistan and hope it reminds him that he's loved, missed, and supported!

I already gave it to my personal chef but I made his FAV-ourite cookies that his Mum always made at Christmas...vanilla kipferl. She died last year and I wanted him to feel some sort of connection to her still and also that there are people here that love him.

we're giving those exact same pickles! one is also tucked under the tree for my husband. they are the bomb! but the best gift we've dreamed up so far is for my in-laws. they are heading to paris for their anniversary and we got them a travel book, $40 eruo for 'their 1st glass of champagne'. they are the toughest to buy for and i usually bake something but this year we hope they enjoy our creativity. really love your blog.

I'm always excited about my daughter's joy on Christmas...especially since this year she told me that she doesn't mind what she gets...because Christmas isn't about gifts. Melts my heart.

An awesome friend of mine told me that his favorite thing about Christmas is hershey kisses. When I reminded him that he could have hershey kisses anytime, he replied..."Not the red & silver ones." I love that he will be happy when I give him a bag of red & silver chocolate.

I am most excited about giving away Dave Ramsey stuff. I love what Dave ramsey has done for my finances and I can't wait to allow my loved ones to experience the freedom! :)

Oh McClures pickles! The Today show had a segment on them this morning! I need to get hubby and me some!

Presents to give away? The BEST one is for my twin sister! We have not spent a birthday together in over five years; so I am surprising her by flying to Portland where she lives! I cannot wait!

Well, I am pretty sure that everyone will love what I have gotten them because I had gift-giving genius this year, but I can't mention any specifics because Sister and her husband read the blog. I will say that I am not as excited as I was about a week ago because when I went to "Add to Cart" on Sunday night, some of my favorite gifts were out of stock. :-( I will have to order them now for next Christmas!!

I gave D'Rae a towel warmer for Xmas already...she loves to take baths and always complained that she was "soooooo cooooold" whenever she got out so I of course had to fix that problem. I have never seen a girl rip open a package that fast before. She would have left a 5 year old in the dust on Xmas morning. Also she has 5 cats (yes I know insert huge eye bulge here) and I got all of their names engraved on tags for her to keep on her keys....they are her babies and I am surprising her with them on Xmas morning when I meet her at the airport in Florida. She might get arrested by "security" (insert bon qui qui)from the scream that reaction will put out. Can't wait!

First, I think those were the pickles featured on an episode of "Unwrapped" on the Food Network? If so, YUM! :) Second, I hope you two don't mind, but I wrote another "Today's Letters" inspired letter to my husband. He got such a kick out of the last one:) Thanks for all you two do!

I'm not super psyched about anything I'm giving right now - the shopping experience is too fresh. I am very excited to watch my husband open his gift from my mom. He's gonna wet his pants.

han, so fun! we heart mail.

zigzag, camp life is a blast. so grateful you get to experience it year round.

court, people often say immitation is the highest form of flattery. i believe it's listening because it's completely sacrificial on the hearers part. love that your gift is a reflection of this!

addison, your papa is in the military? what an incredible gift that will be! i only wish you could see him open it!

michelle, a great reminder that the best gifts don't have to be the most expensive. love your heart behind your cookies.

ingrid, love your creativity! buying them their first glass of champagne ... so thoughtful.

courtney, the mr. feels the same way about peppermint ice cream. such a gift when it's only offered a few months out of the year.

sash, we feel the same way about mvelopes. we'd be lost without our budget! great gift to give others ...

graves, no way! you have a twinner! who's older? i'm older by 1 minutes. there's just nothing like spending birthday's together. i remember moving to dallas and having a hard time celebrating my birthday. there has always been someone to share the attention with. without sarah, my introverted self wanted to crawl in a hole and take a nap! now i've gotten better about celebrating without her, but still hope to one day spend our birthday together again.

brandon & catherine, out of stock msg = no bueno. good thing is that you'll be together for the holidays (and you already have christmas shopping done for next year!).

mel, it's always the little things! sometimes i have tim put my towels in the dryer right before i take a shower. it is a ghetto version of a towel warmer ;) security! security! i've got a complicated orda! security! i'm sure d'rae will be the first to sleep with a set of car keys. xoxo

amanda, they were! i believe they were also featured on the food network's "best thing i ever ate." keep writing your letters ... they will change both you and your spouse!

stacy, i'm also excite for tim to open his gift from my mom. guaranteed to make him laugh. (mama in love's are good for that sort of thing).

This year I am making my new husband's poem into a children's book (he's trying to get it published as one). I got a bookmaking kit from a seller on Etsy, and I am going to bind it an illustrate it. I can't wait!

For my closest friend I got this sweet vintage-y box/treasure chest. Inside, I put 365 pieces of paper (one for her to read every day for a year), each rolled up tightly and tied with a little bow. Some are memories of things we've done together, some are reasons why I love her, some are Bible verses, etc. I can't wait to see her cry, haha!

yes he is! my papa is an american hero, and proud colonel in the air force as well as a f15 pilot. basically a badass who created me AND fights for our freedom.

My twin sister's name is Sara, as well! I am older by nine whole minutes! Oh I sure hope you and your twinner are able to celebrate birthdays together again soon! It is quite fantastic. :-) I'm showing up at my sister's cosmetology school- I've got an entire scheme all planned out. Mwahaha.

dana, pretty sure you just nominated yourself for the coolest aunt of the year award.

angela, what an unbelievably thoughtful gift! and mad props to your man for his poetry. have you figured out what medium you're going to use to illustrate?

kristen, if you're friend is a words of affirmation gal she's gonna be in heaven! way to go with a heartfelt, homemade gift.

addison, colonel and a pilot. definitely a lisenced badass. love it that your daddy is a true american hero.

graves, 9 whole minutes?! if your mom delivered you two pea pies naturally she's officially become my new hero. can't wait to hear how operation twinner surprise goes ...

frank, you just like my pickles. ha! i miss you, friend. we gots to hang soon! xoxo

Pickles are awesome...dip popcorn into the pickle juice, it's the jam!
