Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, last night we celebrated Martin Luther King Day by cooking his favorite meal and watching a documentary on his groundbreaking Civil Rights accomplishments. Pretty sure this has become one of my favorite family traditions with you. Dear 11:37pm, you're one of the best parts of my day. Quiet and only 8 minutes before the sprinklers come on and remind me that it's time to stop writing and go to bed. Dear Girl Scout Cookies, you are the wind beneath my wings because A) you take less than 1 minute of prep time to make a meal out of Samoas and Thin Mints B) you remind me that buying something for a cause has 0 calories and C) you make everyone happy at the office unlike the other fundraisers that sell scented candles and gift wrap. Dear Husband, love you more than fried pork chops, sweet potatoes, mac n' cheese, green beans, pecan pie, and sweet tea. Over and out.

What are your favorite Girl Scout cookies? Pretty sure the $10.50 we spent yesterday on three boxes of Samoas, Thin Mints, and Tagalongs will be the best money we spend all week!

We don't get Girl Scout cookies in the same way that it's done there :(

I guess the Brownies or the Guides have bake sales and things like that.

One meal is hard to pick. However, recently it is homemade vegetable beef soup with homemade cornbread. I heat my oil in the pan while the oven preheats and when I pour the cornbread mix in it, it fries the bottom layer. It is crunchy, southern goodness! (Can you tell I love food just a bit much?)

I love this tradition! How fun! :). Not to mention quite tasty!

Mac n' cheese, hands down! Such a comfort food for me :)

My lovely, Italian, g-ma's spaghetti and meatballs. I have so many memories of long, Sunday afternoon lunches. I was the only grandchild with tons of aunts and uncles for the first 9 years of my life.. sitting and listening to their conversations and making them play games with me. There are 15 grandkiddos now, so much has changed, but Sunday lunches will always be everyones' favorite.

I recently discovered potato soup. I never really thought I would care for it, but I experimented and made up my own recipe for it. It is probably my favorite food these days. (I posted the recipe on my recipe blog if you want it: recipesfrommillermanor.blogspot.com
Cheers!

The Do si do's, with an ice cold glass of milk are my fave! Frozen Tagalongs are also pretty marvelous. Mmmm, peanut butter.

P.S. Super cute scarf!

We are trying to watch what we eat this year so no Girl Scout cookies for us...instead we bought 5 boxes and had them donated to the troops overseas. They will be enjoying thin mints, samoas and tagalongs...my very favorites if we were allowing them in our house this year.

I LOVE girl scout cookie season. Last week I woke up craving one and only thing: tagalongs. I went online to see when i would reunite with my lovely cookies and the countdown said 7 days!

I'm absolutely sure my body has an internal clock counting down the arrival of girl scout cookies.

Girl Scout cookies are the best! I just ordered a couple boxes of Tagalongs and Thin Mints. I love to keep the Thin Mints in the freezer. For some reason I think they taste best when icy cold. You should try it.

Thin Mints and Tagalongs. They apparently got someone new making their Tagalongs, so they aren't quite as high on the kick-ass scale as they used to be. When you only have access to the goods once a year, though, it remains that the main concern is not eating your entire box before you get home from the office.

You and I are GS cookie soulmates -- I order Samoas and Thin Mints. I've got mine already ordered and cannot wait! p.s. can you slam a Samoa instead of a Tim Tam?

Thin Mints all the way! Em, you have just ruined me. And all that food, how dare you! May have to make a trip to Grandmas Kitchen this weekend. I won't stop thinking about those cookies until I get some! Tim and Em, tell me you made the cake? Em if you don't know about the cake, ask Tim or Shoddy if you still talk to him. The cake is what made the first Loerke MLK party happen.

Samoas for an afternoon snack. Thin mints crushed over vanilla bean ice cream after din din. And tagalongs for that sneaky midnight snack. There's one for every time of day!!

Hey, this is unrelated to this post, but I'll ask here anyway. WHERE did y'all get your animal hats? I need to know. They're fantastic.

Tagalongs are the best! I can eat a whole box in one day. (Did I just admit that?)
I also love thin mints and Samoas, but if I could only choose one, tagalongs are it.
Also, I love your MLK Day tradition. What a good idea, I may start it next year! Thanks for sharing!
