{Happy 1 Year Blogiversary Today's Letters!}

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

I can't believe it's already been 1 YEAR since our first post! I remember the first day we had 237 page views. I thought we were famous. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that less than a year later we'd be averaging 8,000 page views per day with our highest day being 17, 892 after we posted our ReEngage talk.

Often people email me asking for advice on how to increase page views, traffic, or get advertising on their blog. My response is always the same: write because you love it, not because people notice. The truth is, writing each other letters has always been a positive outlet for Tim and I, and even if no one read our blog we'd continue to communicate this way simply because of how it's transformed our marriage. If anything, blogging has been a sweet reminder that simple letters can in fact change a life similarly to the way sentences do in books. The expression of our love for others and the day to day doesn't have to be complicated, or pretty, or perfect. It just needs to be real.

That said, it's been an unbelievable 12 months and we're so grateful to have shared parts of our lives with you. We're thankful for the new and wonderful friends blogging has allowed us to make, both on and offline. So THANK YOU to those who have stuck around since the beginning, as well as those who are new and continue to Google phrases such as "Woobie Cape" and "Holy Freakin Batman." We're beyond grateful for your kind words, inspiration, and support.

Also, this post would be incomplete if I didn't mention my buddy, David Penuel, who helps me with the design, layout, and coding portion of my blog. Without him this blog would look like sheet and I guarantee you wouldn't stick around very long to read it. I truly believe a blog's success is only 50% content. Without a good layout you'll find yourself stuck in the mud; tires spinning, but going nowhere. So thanks, DP, you've given our little blog so much life, love, and time. You are the wind beneath my wings!

Much love,
Em & Tim

Happy Birthday Bloggy! So proud to say I've been a reader since May '10!! You have influenced my marriage and my life in so many ways! You guys are truly an inspiration!

A few of my favorite TL moments are: Living room forts, rockin' vocab (like woobie, biscuit, and my fav, "holy seizures of cutiness batman!") Texas snowpocolypse (fir the second year in a row!!), Tim referring to your sweat catchin' clothes as "running costumes", Goonies watching parties, ReEngage talk, and Tim & Em's love story, and of course our coffee date(highlight of my trip home, no doubt. you are the shiz, em!)!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOG LOVE FROM COLORADO! i love that my blog and this blog started at the same time. they're kind of like blog twinners, eh? :) while i would faint with those kinds of page views, i agre that you gotta write what you love and what is real for YOU. i've found that my more brave and vulnerable and even silly confessional types of blog posts really resonate with people (which is why yours touches my heart and my funny bone, yay!).
