{MR340 Race Update!}

Monday, April 11, 2011

Yesterday Em and I hit the lake again for another day of training. Due to high winds and 4 ft waves our afternoon paddling adventure lasted about ... 10 minutes.

We did, however, get to make some new MR340 friends. Stephen and Stacie from Team Hui Ho'ola are paddling this year to raise money for breast cancer. (You can visit their website here).

Stacie is a recent breast cancer survivor herself, making this fundraiser a personal one. Her husband, Stephen, and friend Dan Grubbs will be paddling a tandem Huki Outrigger and competing in men's tandem.

We also got to meet White Rock Navy Ned, who competed in last year's MR340. Can you say, "Holy inspiration, Batman?"

Christina Babb
& Ben Hager from the Advocate Magazine were also there to interview all of us for an upcoming article.

Ben took lots of pictures of our River Rocket.

And Husband took lots of pictures of Ben.

Overall, we had a blast making new friends and learning more about our race. It definitely got us excited for our upcoming adventure on the Colorado River with our amigo West.

Fundraising Update: Last week we raised $325.00 for our gear and travel expenses giving us a total of $1,000 raised so far for this part of our adventure (0nly $4,325.00 to go!). Know that we continue to be humbled by your generosity and donations. Each morning we wake up and realize that none of this would be possible without you!

This week's NEW Race Sponsors:
Kate Wilson
Cari Cassell
Chris & Rachel Shelton
Robbi Russell
