What is a Woobie? My blanket from childhood. I refuse to throw it away or donate it to Goodwill because my transitional object is still good for fort building, cape wearing, and lassoing as I ride my invisible horse around our living room.

What is a biscuit?
Our bed. Doesn't everyone call it that?

Can I subscribe to your blog? YES! {See bottom right sidebar}

Are Mr. Loerke and Husband the same person? Yes. Tim gets two letters each day because he's. just. that. special.

How do you pronounce your last name? {lur-key} Loerke like turkey. BAM.

I am new to blogging. Do you have any advice? I always tell people write because you love it, not because people notice. And don't let blogging take up all of your time. There are far more important things to do like taking naps, going on runs, or watching Modern Family in your jammers with your beloved.

How did you get so many followers, paying sponsors, and page views in less than a year of blogging? I have no idea ... still trying to figure this one out.

What is the story behind your Giving Tree / Treepod? You can read more about it here!

Will you please mention my fundraising project, daughter's photo contest, or brother's name on your blog since it's his birthday? Unless you're trying to raise money to help pay off our PA school debt or your brother is the CEO of Blue Bell, we will be unable to give shout outs or accommodate any special requests on our blog.

Who are your favorite musicians? Justin Vernon & Ben Howard. Final answer.

Will you guest post on my blog? Currently I don't have any margin in my schedule, but know that I am humbled you would consider featuring my shiz on your blog.

I see your blog is copyrighted. Can I mention your website on my blog? Of course. All that we ask is that you contact us first before using any of our images or content.

What camera / editing software do you use? See this post for more info.

Do you read my emails and comments? Every last one of them. I also receive email notifications when you leave comments on archived posts.

What is the Fart Box? Tim's 1994 Honda Accord. It's since been traded in for our PriusC aka, "The Rickshaw" in honor of Rick our Toyota sales associate.

I will be in the Louisville area. Can we grab coffee? Tim and I do our best to meet with our readers whenever we can. We only wish we had time to meet with everyone who asks!

Do you have any marriage books you'd recommend? When Sinners Say "I Do", Love & Respect, Sacred Marriage, A Lasting Promise, Sheet Music, Sacred Influence, and The Meaning of Marriage just to name a few ...

Do you ever write back the people who send you letters?
Yes. I do my best to respond to each one even if it takes me awhile. Currently I have 5 letters sitting on my letters desk that I hope get to this weekend.

Do you have any long distance dating advice?
Don't isolate, pursue others who know you as a couple (and not just individuals), pray for the direction of your relationship, creatively date each other with letters and packages, beware of co-dependent tendencies, keep short accounts with each other, and don't have any significant conversations when you are hungry, angry, late, or tired.

When will you and Mr. Loerke start having kids? We try every day. (KIDDING). We hope to expand our family with Littles either biologically or through adoption. His timing is perfect.

How many brothers and sisters do you and Tim have? There are 6 kids in my family, 5 in Tim's. Holy craziness, Batman.

What is your "real" job? I've worked at Watermark Community Church for the past 7 years. Can you believe they trust me work with kids?

Have you always been a letter writer? ALWAYS. Most of my allowance money used to go to stamps and stationery. It's also the reason why my twin sister wants to name her first dog, Mailbox.

How do you find all of the great music you post on your blog? Tell us your secret! I wish I had a secret. Twinner has been a great resource for me in the music department, as well as movies, magazines, concerts, NPR, Daytrotter, YouTube, Pandora, iTunes, etc.

You are too cute! I want to add a page like this on my blog, but I should probably wait until I'd have more entries. One or two FAQ's does not a post make!
Seriously, though, you're great at this!

I'm new to your blog and love it. In fact, I bought the "Sheet Music" book just now after seeing your recommendation for it. Epic fail #1 according to the book? Cohabitation. Check! Well, I'll still read it and your blog ;-). We live in Denton...Represent!

Keep on keepin'on,
Claire

I stumbled across your blog through Pinterest today and normally I don't stop to check out blogs, but boy am I sure glad I did! You've blessed me and inspired me today in a way that I have been needing. I was literally crying reading some of your husbands letters to you. So quick and sweet, nothing over the top and crazy mushy. Perfect and intimately personal. Of course, I could have been crying from my 9 month pregnant hormones too! :) But over all thank you so much for allowing all of us to take a peek through the window into your life. I will positively be stopping by again.

Your newest fan!
Amanda

Dear Loerkes
O.m.g. We are soul mates! I know you probably don't believe me, but we are. If you are in need of more evidence, feel free to honor me by reading our blog: adventures as newlyweds.
We, like you, have discovered that great marriages take a lot of work, and that they are more than worth it. We celebrate all things, big and small, in big ways, and build forts in our jammers as well. You are adorbs. I wish we could be best couple friends, but for now I will settle for following your blog. xoxo, Mrs. Johnston

I was hoping to find the answer to this question on here: Where did you and Tim meet?! :)

I so enjoy reading your blog, and like you, Emma, I am a graduate of Taylor. :) May I leave a "critique" comment? I get annoyed when people do this on blogs I read, so I can't believe I'm actually doing it myself, but here goes...under the FAQ when you were asked if you wanted kids, you stated either naturally or through adoption. Perhaps a better way to phrase that would be "either biologically or through adoption". As a potential adoptive mom myself, I know a lot of well-meaning words can sting unintentionally. Just a thought. :) Thanks for sharing your hearts and your lives!

mags, thanks for sharpening me. change made.

fist pumps and leg kicks for that!

tiernan said...

Why fist pumps and leg kicks? I've been reading your letters for awhile and love Fridays, and I've been wondering if there's some special significance that I'm missing. (I'm a northerner who moved to DC a year ago and made a lot of southern friends, and have realized there are a lot of things to learn!) Thanks for blogging!

Today's Letters said...

tieman, i have no idea! started maybe 3 yrs ago when tim and i would get so excited in pictures. it's just kind of stuck. silly really.

Just checking out your site, found you via pinterest. Love the idea of working on communication with the questions on sunday. I think I'm gonna put this site in my bookmarks! Just a question though about the "letters". I'm not sure if I understand it correctly. Do you sit down each day and write a letter to people and mail it or just post it on the blog?? I'm confused?? Also, I'm a pen fanatic and this is a nerd question, any favorite pens that write really good? LOL Thanks!

Today's Letters said...

amy, glad you found us! i try and write letters often throughout the week. sometimes it's for 4 days in a row, other times just twice. just depends. either way, i have always found them to be life changing! these are not mailed, just posted :) btw, love uniball signo's! xo

I recently stumbled upon your sweet family's blog, and I have LOVED getting to read your posts! Seeing Christ's love through y'all's *everyday* adventures, mistakes, normal, and rough spots has truly been an inspiration...thank you.
My family has a special connection with Louisville, as we travelled with my dad for J-terms while he studied at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Super cool city! We also *had* bees and chickens in our back yard...past tense, sadly enough, but we're hoping for a future comeback. :)
.....Anyways....I have a question that I've been holding onto since I first started reading. Whatintheworld STARTED *biscuit!?* The uniqueness of y'all's term for bed makes me smile each time I read it, and I'm super curious!

Today's Letters said...

Mary Elizabeth, you're so sweet! Thank you for your encouraging words. We started calling our bed the biscuit our first year we were married. I think I was just really excited to go to sleep one night I just said I couldn't wait to "climb into our bed because it was warm and soft just like a biscuit." Silly really, but somehow it stuck!

Today's Letters said...

PS- I love that you have a connection to LOU! We've lived here just over 2.5 yrs and LOVE it. The Highlands have never felt so much like home! xo!

Aha! Very nice, I love it. :)
