{MR340 Race Update!}

Monday, May 02, 2011

Last week Em left to speak at a conference in Bukavu, Congo but we were still able to hit the lake for a few hours on Thursday. We couldn't have asked for better weather! It was 75°, sunny, and not a cloud in the sky.

For those of you who have been wondering what paddling can do for your arms, see Exhibit A.

Em's dad was also in town visiting from Oklahoma. He said we looked strong and in sync, two things paddlers love to hear.

We even got to watch the beginning of one of the first Concerts in the Garden this season at the Dallas Arboretum. Em and I plan on bringing the boys back this summer to experience some free live music from our boat.

This week's NEW Race Sponsors:
Nate & Teresa Graybill

As far as fundraising goes, in 3 months ya'll have helped us raise $9,620 for our race, $5,100 of which helped fund the last of Em & Kent's adoption expenses. (Insert lots of fist pumps and jazz hands here!). The remaining donations have helped us purchase our kayak, paddles, PFD's, and other miscellaneous gear.

We're still looking to raise $2,380 to cover the last of our gear and travel expenses, so please consider donating as you feel led. Btw, send me an email if you'd like your donation to be made through our non-profit adoption organization.

And for those of you who are new to the blog feel free to check out this post in order to get caught up on why Em and I are paddling 340 miles across the state of Missouri!

Only 77 more days,
Em & Em

PS, be sure and check back later this afternoon to meet our new May Sponsors!
