Husband's Letters: Dear Emo Lightning, you remind me of this bolt that fills the sky when you are spontaneous. You have grown so much in this area and I find it so attractive. Dear Eric, this weekend you gave up your Saturday night to teach Steve and I how to do an Eskimo Roll in a kayak. We may not have succeeded but we had a lot of fun. Thank you for taking the time to teach us before our trip. Dear Self, you are learning each day about the ins and outs of orthopedics. Sometimes you get discouraged when you fall short. Keep your head up and remember that your mistakes are always your best teachers. Dear Little, you work all day at your normal job, then you come home and blog, cook, clean, do laundry, organize, and love on me. You are quite the woman and your perseverance and work ethic challenges me greatly.

What is something spontaneous you've done lately? This weekend Em and I got snow cones at the last minute with some friends. It sounds so simple but it was perfect. Full schedules often leave little room for spontaneity. Simplify!

Me and Chris went to London to go see a film - my friend had extra tickets for a preview and whereas normally we'd have been like "that's too far to go at short notice". We sorted it and within an hour (or about 20 minutes after I finished work) we were at the station catching the hour train to London.

It was so much fun - I met someone in person who I'd only spoken to on Twitter and had an amazing evening - we even had an adventure as we walked or got the bus between the main station and the Preview Theatre rather than catching the tube underground. Good fun all round!

We spontaneously swung by a new ice cream shop for after-dinner dessert bars. Dessert spontaneity is the best kind.

The tads and I blew off naptime once last week to go to the pool. Think we'll do it again today...

The husband and I took a spontaneous trip to Charleston last month. No hotel reservation, no itinerary. We just pack one bag, jumped in the car and headed out. Best trip ever!

Last week we decided to order chinese for our date night and wanted to try out this place just down the street. When we opened the mail when we got home, boom! 15% off to that exact chinese place! It was like Christmas in August!!

The husband surprised me with a dinner/movie/drinks date after I got off work on Sunday. We had friend catfish at Hook, Line, and Sinker, tried a new coffee shop, Crooked Tree, which we hated, saw Midnight In Paris at the Magnolia, and had beers at Lemon Bar. Simple perfection.
