Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, after driving around neighborhoods looking at houses this weekend I've officially decided that we're on the right track. Paying off your PA school loans before taking on a mortgage will be worth the wait of a front porch swing and a lawn that makes our sneakers green from mowing. Dear Container Store, thanks for eliminating my excuses to do touch-up painting. Your small glass jars make me wanna paint happy little trees all over our living room. Dear Camp Wandawega Treehouse, you are the coolest treehouse I've EVER seen. In the history of the world. OF ALL TIME. That's all. Dear Husband (who always gets two letters), love you more than riding at the lake, the last Flavor Ice in the freezer, and an unloaded dishwasher. Over and out.

Happy freakin Monday, Homies! What's your favorite thing about owning a home?

My favorite thing about it is when we turn into our neighborhood, Anna says "Look Mama! Home!" and gets so excited. My least favorite part is that you don't have a landlord to fix the broken junk...

I think the Camp Wandawega treehouse is the coolest THING I've ever seen. Oh how I want one.

my favorite part about owning a home was the pride/excitement that "i did it!"... but now that we're renters again i'm enjoying that more than ever! xo

we bought our home almost two years ago. my favorite thing about being a home owner is making it "ours." we are slowly but surely making changes and updates and doing things the way we want. a few weeks ago we had the exterior painted from pink/puple (yuck!) to blue/white. woohoo!

PROS: the cozy feel of it being mine! mowing my yard, sitting on my porch.
CONS: (agree with ames) not having a landlord when something breaks.

We built our home and I love knowing that no one else has ever lived there.
Container Store rocks! Always one of my favorite stops when in Ft. Worth.

I, like others, love knowing our home is ours. I love changing it around, I love living in it at the different seasons. I love thinking about what to do next to make is homier and better. I love the stability and sanity and love that is in our home. When I bring in something I always make sure I LOVE it, I can't just like it or think that corner needs something so I guess I'll put a plant there...I want everything to MEAN something or have a story. Lots of times I buy or pick up things while on a family vacation, it reminds us all of fun times we've had together. It doesn't have to be bought, we picked up an interesting tree branch worn smooth by the water on our honeymoon at Lake Murray from an island where we parked out boat. I hung it on the wall with a few other things and it always reminded me of those carefree days and nights filled with wild love!

I've never lived in a rental of any kind, unless you count one year of college dorms. I bought my first house (on my own, without any financial help) when I was nineteen, so that I didn't have to quit my job and come home after my first year of college.

So I don't have anything to contrast it with, but I love knowing that I can make any change I want and the only person I have to please is me (well, and my husband).

my favorite thing about owning our home is making all the decisions about landscaping, paint, flooring, decor...etc. without having to check with anyone. Consequently, it's also the worst part because you have to pay for that and all the repairs that come along. our a/c has gone mad on us twice this summer!

My favorite thing about owning a home, is getting to make the rules. And yes, we do play ball in the house. Football in the living room. Pepper with a volleyball in the kitchen. Our house. Our rules.

Hrm...just the thought of owning one in the next 5 (or so) years fills me with joy. Not even a year left before school is over and I move out. Cleaning my whole dorm/apartment/house, here I come! :D

we live in the house my grandfather renovated and that my father grew up in...and it is so freakin' awesome to dig around in the gardens that my "pa" planted and watch my kids race around on the floors my dad and uncle raced around on.
oh, and being able to feel like i come home to "my" place every day is fraekin' cool too.
