Today's Letters: Dear Mr. Loerke, sometimes you walk into the bathroom with your coffee grinder at 6am. This is so I can smell freshly ground coffee while brushing my teeth. Reason #266 why boy roommates are AWESOME. Dear Swig, Team Loerke thinks you have the best bar food in Dallas. Your wild mushroom, garlic butter, and brie flat bread made us forget all about your 4 page cerveza menu. Dear Fall, you are officially official starting tomorrow. Looking forward to comfort food in the crock pot, football, apple cider, and wool everything. Dear Husband, since we've met you've started eating mushrooms, onions, and olives. I've started eating jalapenos, hot sauce, and chocolate malts. I like how we've influenced each other.

What's something you refuse to eat? I know a girl at work who doesn't eat sandwiches. She says it's a texture thing.

Mushrooms - then again if they are covered in breadcrumbs and garlic flavoured I'm fine lol. That's a texture thing lol. I don't like fish - but I eat fish fingers and I like tomatoes but don't like tomato soup lol. I'm a strange child. On the other hand I tried calamari - admittedly it was a dare and within reason I don't turn down dares lol. (I might have been showing off for a boy at the time :/)

I can't eat meat that I have seen raw before especially not if it's read meat. So if I cook for myself I'm basically a vegetarian but if someone prepares the meat for me I eat chicken. Sometimes I try other kinds too but I'm very picky when it comes to meat. I guess it's a meat thing :D

I agree with the sandwich texture thing! I can't eat a sandwich if the bread is wimpy (i.e., white bread or even cheap wheat). It's gotta be sourdough or a bagel or something with a little oomph. At the very least the wimpy bread has to be toasted. I also can't eat runny eggs. I want to like them so much, because it looks so fun to dip toast in them, but I just can't get past the yolky smell.

Used to be mayonnaise, but I eat it now sometimes.

As a condiment, I will not eat Ketchup. No way, no how. Although, it is good when cooked in things like meatloaf. You know, all those things I ate as a child with ketchup without knowing it.

Olives (sorry!), licorice, and rootbeer. But, I'm working on jalepenos--had some fried ones over the weekend--with ranch!

Oh and horsradish! I once got that stuff mixed up w the mayo when I was making a sandwich. It. Was. Awful. 'Specially bc I didn't want to waste the sammie. Now my family buys the horsradish and mayo that are in similar bottles just to try and trick me!

I refuse to eat a lot of things, but mushrooms top my list. I won't eat mushrooms or anything that mushrooms have touched or been cooked with. Some small spot in my brain thinks they are infectious and infect everything they touch with their smell and mushroomy-ness. Bleh!

this has pretty much nothing to do with anything but I wanted to let you know that while I was catching up on your blog this morning my 2 year old, Malakai, became obsessed with your photo in the animal hats :)

I have a list of things. I'm SO picky. But mushrooms are a big one, bananas that have any brown on the peels, and any cake that my mother makes. (sorry, her icing is gross)
Husband and I have influenced each other too in a lot of ways and in the food dept. He now uses mustard and eats veggies (HA!), and I put ice in my milk. :)

Onions, olives, black licorice and too many other things to list, it's embarrassing! My husband did get me to start eating pizza last month which was a miracle :-)I really wish I wasn't so picky!

I don't like yogurt, at all, of any kind! bleck! I also don't like melons (even watermelon) and green peppers ruin any dish for me. Oh and olives. I also have a hard time cooking meat I have seen raw before (unless I can grill and practically burn it).

Water chestnuts. You see them in something and think they're potatoes, but then they're all crunchy and unexpected. Not ok. :)

Woah baby that looks delish! I can't stand shrimp. I picture those creepy crawly legs, and it just grosses me out!

I cannot stand peas. The way they smell, taste, their texture - no matter how they are cooked. And I just can't do sushi.

Olives. I will eat virtually any other thing around. Oh, and I refuse to let ketchup touch a hot dog. It's just wrong.

hmm well there's a lot that i choose not to eat as a vegan even though it's not a real aversion, but my mom just came to mind because she can't eat dates - she thinks they look like cockroaches! and my aunt hates the word "hummus" so won't eat that!

happy almost friday!
