Husband's Letters: Dear Mrs. Loerke, sometimes after you wake up you crawl into my lap at my desk and let me hold you like an egg. This is one of my favorite things about you. Dear Wiffle Ball, is it just me or do 30 yr olds require more muscles to swing a bat and round the bases? #sore #pulledhammy. Dear Cabin, your deck, outdoor fireplace, grill, and beautiful view of Beaver's Bend State Park were breathtaking. I'm thankful to have had an opportunity to spend a weekend with my guys here. Dear Emma, since we sold our bedroom furniture last week, you wanna build a headboard with me? Looking forward to using a chop saw with you.

Love,
Mr. Loerke

Em and I believe that investing 2 weekends a year for guy / girl trips can reap huge dividends in our marriage. These aren't extravagant vacations, just quick weekend getaways where we can enjoy a few days alone with our friends. What's been your favorite guy / girl trip? Where did you go and what did you do?

I haven't taken a lot of girl trips lately - but I think it's a great idea! I enjoy Lake Tahoe or Solitude, Utah.

Um...why did you guys sell your bedroom furniture?

I recent saw this pallet-turned-table...maybe you could improvise & make new night stands the same way. :) http://www.faroutflora.com/2011/06/04/diy-succulent-pallet-table/

I have a group of friends that I graduated high school with (umph..34 yrs ago) and every year we take a girl trip to Jefferson TX for Mardi Gras!!!! We have the BEST time - we spend 95% of our time just laughing ... it is the BEST!!!

My best girl trip ever was to Sardinia, Italy. Beautiful landscape and a lonesome little village where there was nothing else to do but talking, laughing and spending quality time together. It was perfect :-)

My best girl trip is a 12 year tradition. Every August since our Sophomore year of college, my friends and I have driven down to the beach for a four day getaway. When we were poor college students, we stayed at the pink Hampton Inn near the Back Porch in Destin, and now we go to the same neighborhood (Seacrest Beach North) every summer.

We love it. And it's sacred. No husbands, no babies, JUST GIRLS. We lounge around the house, go out to eat, go to the movies and rest by the pool.

I'm making plans for my first ever girl trip to Austin. It's hard to get motivated because I don't get a lot of time with my mister, but I'm realizing that it is definitely needed!

Before school started back this semester, my sister and I met at Mom and Dad's house for a seester weekend. We took her bridal portraits, ate lots of pie, and read magazines in her bed while watching bad tv. The best!

This weekend I made the very tough decision to break off a relationship I was forming with a non-christian man. Reading about your marriage and how God is the center of it really helped me make this decision. Thank you for being so encouraging!

I recently met up with three friends in London for a weekend mini-break. We had lunch in Bloomsbury, browsed (and bought many books) at antiquarian bookstores, saw the new film adaptation of 'Jane Eyre' and finished up the weekend with a picnic and visit to the Jane Austen House in Chawton. It was a quick but fantastic weekend with great friends.

I spent 3 days with my best friend of 25 years in Austin recently. We ate BBQ and drank and talked talked talked. My dear husband stayed home and watched our three littles. It was perfection.

I have a girls weekend this weekend in Austin. None of us have been to Texas and we're super excited for the opportunity! I need to encourage my husband to go on a guys trip soon too.

At the airport headed to Chicago for my TU girls' weekend right this minute! One weekend a year the 6 of us get together. We live ALL over so it is awesome to do this. We are in Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Florida, and California. My sophomore year at TU we met and planned a spring break trip to ft lauderdale. The rest is history! Taylor is so amazing at instilling the community feel and friendship intimacy. I know we are not the only group of friends who does this. :)
