{Weekend Recap & Blog Updates!}

Monday, December 05, 2011

This weekend we finally decorated our Christmas tree! It was naked for close to 5 days. Pretty sure this was a direct result of A) watching too many episodes of Friday Night Lights and B) my inability to conquer Bronchitis. What's a girl gotta do to make this shizness go away, anyway?

In light of still sounding like Coughasaurus Rex all weekend, Tim Tam decided to bedazzle his dresser. I actually think it looks mighty festive, don't you?

One of our favorite Christmas ornaments is pictured below. OUR ANTIQUE PICKLE! Say whaaaaaa?

"The night before Christmas it's hung on the tree. While everyone is sleeping, it's done secretly. And on Christmas morning when you arise, the first one to find it gets a surprise. A family tradition for all to share, you'll look for the pickle year after year!" What are some of your favorite ornaments? Please tell!!!

We also wanted to announce that we've made a couple of changes to the blog. You can find more trips under our "Adventures" tab, as well as two new buttons on our left sidebar called "Best of Dallas" and "Craft Movement." Our "best of" list will be updated often as we explore more unique and tasty food places in and around Dallas.  All of the videos we post that are non music or movie related will appear under our new Craft Movement tab. Be sure and check them out!

In addition, we've changed our "Tuesday Questions" to "Weekly Questions." This is because we don't want to limit you to asking them just on Tuesday's. Pick a time of the week that works best for you! We've also added a 5th question to our list that we've "tested" for 6 months or so. Rest assured that it's a good addition. To check it out go here.

Lastly, Happy freakin Monday, Homies! Only 19 more days until CHRISTmas. CAN'T WAIT.
XOXO

Oh my! We have a collection of "random" ornaments...the santa cactus, the hot dog and cheese burger, the pickle and more! I love them all!

I have a pickle ornament, too! I didn't put my tree up this year, but it's always the front and center ornament.

SOOOO pretty! I love your space!

All of our Christmas ornaments match because we got them together right when we got married. BUT, this is our first Christmas with a new baby so I've started her her very own collection of ornaments. Each year I'll add a new one to the tree, writing "1," "2," "3," and so forth on them representing how many Christmases we've had together.

Love the tree and all the festiveness.

As to your FNL obsession. It runs deep when it hits. I'm finished with the series (finished, as in "seen it all", but never, ever done watching) but sometimes like to watch this Emmy Awards trailer the show submitted this past year before Coach T won himself an Emmy (finally)! It revs me up on all kinds of FNL juice!

(Sorry, just posted this, then realized it could be a tad spoilery in places for some people... just a warning.)

OH MY do I love Tim's dresser. I'm thinkin' my husband would too. Can you tell me how you chose all the pieces that are featured there? Where did you get the dresser itself and where, might I ask, did you find that fabulous lamp???

h, the dresser was a gift from my parents when i was 3? it came with a matching sleigh bed and chest of drawers that i still use to this day. the aspen wood vase was a thrift store find. (it's our family tree). the mason jar was a gift from my mom and stores our loerke lottery money. the lamp is from pottery barn. we purchased it maybe 5 years ago? hope this helps!

I love it when I find someone else who does the pickle thing! My dad always hid ours and he got pretty sneaky about it. Once, he wrapped it so only the tip top was sticking out and hung it on one of the low branches so it blended in with the presents! We always looked for it before Christmas morning though. We need to get a pickle for our house now. If no one gives us one for Christmas, I'm buying one in an after Christmas clearance somewhere.

My maiden name is Pickle, so we had no shortage of pickle ornaments growing up. We actually were given so many that my mom made a separate tree... just for pickle ornaments. :)

Your tree looks so pretty! and I love the reindeer skirt!! I have an ornament collection full of hallmark ones that i've gotten every ear since I was a lil babe.. but my favorites are ones that have been handmade, got that special touch of love :) Your pickle tradition is sweet, love that idea!

Sweet tree skirt. Love it. Also think hanging your guitars is a good idea. My husband usually keeps his guitars at his office, but we have a ukelele that we can't keep our kids' hands off of... we should definitely mount in on the wall. :)

Where did you find your amazing tree skirt?!

We started the pickle tradition at Habecker's Holipolloza last year at Taylor!

My favorite ornaments are the set of all characters from the movie, Santa Claus is Coming to Town. They are so much fun.
