{Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Movie Trailer}

Thursday, January 05, 2012

One of my favorite authors is Jonathan Safran Foer. He wrote best selling novels, Everything Is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. His wife, Nicole Krauss, is the author of one of my favorite books, The History of Love. You could say that these two are as dynamic of a duo in the literary world as Batman & Robin. I'm thrilled to see one of Jonathan's masterpieces finally made it to film. And who better than Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock to star as Oskar Shell's parentals?

"I shook my tambourine the whole time, because it helped me remember that even though I was going through different neighborhoods, I was still me." (pg 88)

I don't know... I really liked the book. But based on the trailer, I'm afraid the movie's going to get all Hallmark-y.

That looks like an amazing movie. And the book just made it on my reading list for 2012!

I was given the book for Christmas from my penpal in Kansas! It arrived and I didn't realise it was a Christmas present until I opened it about a week early!

I've got one to read at the moment by Matthew Barnett about finding your God given purpose and stuff like that so that jumped to the top of the TBR pile. EL&IC is next to read I think or maybe after The Hobbit - 2012 is the year of books for me lol.

I totally just read both of those books this week. Didn't realize the two authors are married. That makes sense, because I was noticing similar themes and such. Thanks for the info! Both books are fantastic!

1. Everything Is Illuminated actually was made into a movie staring Elijah Wood a few years ago. I haven't seen it, but I heard it got pretty good reviews.

2. One of the songs used in that trailer is from an unsigned Dallas band, Sleeperstar. Pretty cool. :)

EL&IC was such a wonderful read--then I discovered the History of Love... I thought: "seriously, these two people are married?!!" double genius under one roof. Great post.

1. I love this book and movie! They are both so amazing.
2. I started reading The History of Love on this recommendation, so I hope it's good! So far I like it, and I'm surprised at how much her writing style reminds me of her husbands. I'm totally okay with that, though :)
