After reading a handful of books to prepare for Uganda I've begun to realize that helping the poor involves so much more than just providing food and water to the hungry. Our poverty alleviation efforts have to be multifaceted, helping them recover spiritually, relationally, physically, and emotionally. Putting this philosophy into practice can be tricky, but it's the only way to truly bring healing to those who are hurting. That said, this movie gets me excited about the possibilities of helping those in my own backyard in addition to serving our friends in Uganda.

I'm inspired from this video to go out and make a difference starting TODAY. Nobody deserves to go hungry. Thank you for sharing this.

When Helping Hurts is awesome--and so are the authors (two of my profs here at Covenant!). Reading that book and hearing their lectures has stretched my brain so much.

Agreed! It's fantastic you're going to Uganda. I went to Zambia a few years ago and loved it. Even if our efforts while there constitute just a drop of help in a bucket of need, the fact that hearts change for a lifetime will make a lasting difference as we continue to try to help.
