Husband's Letters: Dear Mrs. Loerke, sometimes I'll do the alligator death roll in my sleep leaving you exposed to the elements (namely our fan and thermostat set at 65°). When I start to feel your feet jammed into my rib cage I know it's time to share the covers. Dear Male Patient, yesterday we replaced both of your knees on the same day. Your bravery and determination for a full recovery challenged all of us in the operating room. Dear Carry-on Backpack, you are packed and filled with everything I need for a week of teaching and learning in Uganda. I even managed to cram $27 worth of beef jerky into your pockets. Dear Emma, often I leave my BBQ tools sitting out for days telling you they're just "drying." Thank you for being patient when I lack motivation to put things away.

Over and out,
Tim

Best BBQ place you've ever eaten? GO.

I like your dear male patient letter. My mom had a double knee replacement at the age of 51 -- she's one of the strongest people I know!

Dear Mr. Loerke,
I enjoyed today's letter so much that I shared it on Pinterest. And my favorite BBQ place is Dickey's! I was so excited when they finally opened one near us, I was driving by almost every day waiting to get my 'Westerner' sandwich with spicy sausage and chicken, smothered in BBQ sauce and pickles -- with a side of BBQ sauce and a giant pickle. What is the best place you've been to?

Dear Mrs. Loerke,
Thank you for creating this blog! After 8 years of being with my best friend, we needed a good reminder to get back to our roots of appreciating each other more. He misread your 5 questions, so now I laugh every week when he asks me, "How may I persuade you?" :)

What is your favorite thing to BBQ at home?

<3 Nicole

Hmmm...we don't really have a standout BBQ place here. When we are craving BBQ we drive about 40 minutes for Famous Dave's!!! : )

Hi again! My husband just reminded me about this place: http://www.yelp.com/biz/dixies-bbq-bellevue. LOVED this when we lived in Seattle!

Hey Tim,

New to the blog and wanted you to know it's really inspired me to rethink the way that I approach things. Thanks for that.

As for BBQ, being a Hill Country Texan...gotta be Cooper's in Llano or The Salt Lick in my hometown of Driftwood.

Thanks again!

Daddy D'z BBQ Joynt (actual spelling, I promise!) in Atlanta.

You won't want to eat there if you judge it by the outside but they have the friendliest older gentlemen working there and they make sure your experience is delicious and enjoyable!

There was this place at Mississippi State called Sonny's BBQ - the guy had converted his garage into a BBQ joint and it was fan-freaking-tastic! They even made homemade pork rinds...*wistful sigh*

I loved Oklahoma Joe's in KC last week. But I think I need to eat it again to be sure. Or at least that's what I'm telling my boyfriend. ;)

I also really love Kehde's BBQ in Sedalia, MO.

Truthfully, the whole barbecue thing is kind of new to me. I'm from Michigan and it's not near as big. However, we went to this fun place downtown Detroit last time called Rub BBQ and Pub. If you ever make it, try the barbecue nachos. yum. :)
