{Today's Letters} Louisville Edition

Dear Mr. Loerke, Pretty sure you'd fall in love with the Bluegrass State! The grilled summer squash at Rye and truffle fries at Hammerhead's in Lou are enough to send us packing. Dear Roberson Bungalow, You are perfect. Just like watering the garden at midnight and walking around the Flea Off Market after a shared cinnamon roll at Please & Thank You. Dear MMR, You teach me many things. Lots about bees, how to appreciate a good breakfast, but mostly about how to love people well. I'm convinced there isn't a person in Lou that hasn't been directly impacted by your kindness. Dear Timothy James, Thank you for such a sweet welcome home! Finding our traveling journal wedged in between the wall and our bathroom cabinet made me smile. {5 points for level of difficulty in the hiding category}.

Happy freaking Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Did you do anything new? Eat anything memorable? See anything that made you happy?

I love your traveling journal thing :)

This weekend, my husband of one month had to leave to go do Air Force things, so I had a relaxin weekend to myself. I made homemade soup and froze it, so I'm excited to see how that turns of in the fall! And as for something memorable that I ate: frozen brownie batter. Try it! So dang good. But not healthy in the least :)

I had a four day weekend. I started on Thursday by helping set up for Holiday Club at my friend's church (it's not really my church but I've been going to the holiday club either as a member or as a leader since I was like 5! I think there's only year I've not been there and that was because I was working as a waitress and was doing late shifts (like 11pm yawn!!)

On Friday I helped set up for my Mum's 50th Birthday Party - I think she had a nice time even though some bits like the cake hadn't gone quite to plan. A bunch of us ending up watching some of the Olympics in the living room while people were eating and chatting in the garden lol. We got home about 0015 Saturday morning which would have been fine but I'd intended to go to Park Run and attempt a 5k again (I did it in 51 minutes last week but walked bunches of it lol)

I ate something (not totally) new: My first vegan cupcake that tasted really good. I tried one before but it wasn't good at all but I decided to give the vegan baked goods another try. And boy am I glad I did! It was really yummy!
So yeah for trying and experiencing new things :)

Henry Doorly Zoo =ed my new adventure this weekend! Got to enjoy with the hubby, his sister, brother, and parents! Great quality time with the in-laws! My favorite parts?? Watching a gorilla scale a wall to observe everyone, learning about gorilla families, and walking through a swamp-like atmosphere where alligators/crocodiles were beneath the bridge you walked on!!! And coming up with as many animal puns you could think of! We go rilla wild when we make puns... no lion about that! :) Happy Monday!
