Hey Tim,
may I ask what was the movie you saw about Bavaria? Am just curious! And whenever you may visit Germany - I'd love to meet you two! :)
Have a great weekend! Katharina

I second that :) I would also love to know what movie made you chose the mountains in Germany for the one place you would like to live in. And if you ever get the chance to come over to Germany please let us make a German reader meet up ;-)

Katharina & Kristina, I have German blood on my dad's side of the family. My grandparents have been to Germany quite a few times and they also used to host lots of exchange students. So, I've always wanted to visit but haven't yet. Well, the movie I saw with the Bavarian mountains was Band of Brothers. The last episode (10/10) was filmed there...either directly in the Eagle's Nest or a place that looked like it. I had no idea how beautiful it was. One of the scenes in particular showed the Major sitting on the balcony that had been commandeered overlooking a valley with a waterfall nearly 50yds away (roughly 45 meters). It was breath taking.

Hey Tim,
thanks for taking the time to explain it so well. Guess I will watch Band of Brothers next to find out. I read a bit about where the scenes were fimed in wikipedia - but I am not sure - Bavaria or in Wallis/Szwizerland :)
I've lived in Austria and love the mountains and do miss it a lot now that I am further north. But at least it is something to look onto... skiing in the winter :)

I have to second Katharina one more time: Tim, thanks for explaining it so well. I once was a German exchange student in America and watched all episodes of Band of Brothers with my host dad. I think I know which scene you are talking about and it's definitely breath taking!
I hope you'll get the chance to see it for yourself some time.
