Saturday's beekeeping class was AMAZING.
Our instructor, Jose, taught us about Langstroth hives, top bar hives,
drones, honey extraction, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, colony collapse disorder,
winterizing bees, and how to open a hive without getting stung a 573 times.
Our friends Abby, Bek, Darby and Molls are beekeepers and have inspired us
to get our own hives once we move to Kentucky.
Overall, bees are low-maintenance and don't require a ton of attention.
As long as they have their queen and are well-fed they'll produce up to 80 pounds of honey a year!
If you're interested in learning more about bees be sure and check out Round Rrock Honey's website.
We thought our class was a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
Happy Tuesday, friends!

How neat is this! My sister-in-law and her husband work with bee's every year with his family. I have never been around to experience the process but I definitely reap the benefits of their hard work with some fresh honey! What a fun activity!

I so so so encourage you to read Scouting the Divine. the author goes and studies the lives of a farmer, a shepherd, a wine vintner, and a BEE KEEPER in search of Biblical truth in those trades
