This afternoon Tim and I board a plane bound for Louisville.
This evening we drive 6 hours to Asheville and fall asleep under the stars in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

{The Wildest Dream}

Monday, September 24, 2012

This weekend Tim and I watched The Wildest Dream, a documentary about George Mallory, the first man to summit Mt Everest in 1924. The film documents the discovery of his body 75 years later by climber, Conrad Anker, who later returns to Everest to help discover the mystery surrounding Mallory's death. Such an inspiring story! That said, Siskel & Loerke give it two thumbs up and encourage you to add this to your freaking Netflix queue!

{Food For The Hungry} Update!

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Many of you know I traveled back to Africa a couple of months ago with Food For The Hungry. {You can see more photos of our trip here}. I ended up being one of six bloggers who helped spread the message of HOPE through FH's child sponsorship program. Talk about AMAZING.

One of my favorite memories in Ethiopia was meeting our sponsored boy, Moti.

Before meeting him I never truly understood the impact our financial contribution. I quickly learned that child sponsorships mean a renewed spirit for the entire family knowing that at least one child will receive an education. Something I take for granted way too often.

Above are photos of some of you with your newly sponsored child. I just wanted to say THANK YOU!
I can't tell you how much of an impact your letters and monthly financial contribution are making.

Tim and I have stayed faithful to writing Moti and to reminding him how brave he is.
{The one thing I whispered in his ear before I left}.
If any of you would like more information on FH or have questions about sponsoring a child, let me know.
I promise it'll be the best $32 per month you'll ever steward.

Happy Wednesday, friends.

Dear Mr. Loerke, This weekend we watched Blue Like Jazz, wore out the new Lumineers LP recently delivered by Mr. McFeely, put acorns in our pocket, rocked Smartwools, folded 427 loads of laundry, and ran 3mi together in the rain. Loved this weekend. Dear Comparison, You always rob me of joy. Must. remember. this. Dear iPhone 5, Thanks to my sweet dude you'll be arriving this Friday. He tells me you're so smart you'll cook me breakfast. AWESOME. Dear Timothy James, Saturday you ran faster than Usain Bolt in the Tour des Fleurs. Proud of you for training hard and for accomplishing your goal.

Happy Monday, friends! What have you been listening to lately? Are you training for anything this Fall?

{A Story For Tomorrow}

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

While on a road trip to New Mexico a few weeks ago I read Donald Miller's book, A Million Miles in A Thousand Years. It was life changing. {Which I realize is a bold thing to say, but it's true}. Much like this video, Miller's book reminded me that I base my story on the things I value and find important. He forced me to ask the question, "Am I truly enjoying the story I'm living?" Miller goes on to say, "Once we live a good story we get a taste for a kind of meaning in life, and we can't go back to being normal; we can't go back to meaningless scenes stitched together by the forgettable thread of wasted time.” I'm thankful for how this video inspired me {thanks M.Hankins} and for a couple of upcoming adventures to look forward to with dear friends. The older I get the more I realize my story reads best when it's shared with those I know and love. Happy Wednesday, friends.

Bowsprit - Constellations

This weekend I got to do normal with friends in Lou. It was GLORIOUS! Highlights included: watching Molls do a video shoot at Hermitage Farm with Jaclyn Journey and Josh Meredith of OMC, eating Simply Thai down by the Waterfront, hanging out with old and new friends at Four Pegs, sleeping in past 10am, having a 3 hr lunch with Morg at Blue Dog Cafe, getting caught in the rain at Garage Bar, sharing a meal with this sweet girl at Harvest, spending the afternoon at the Flea Off Market with these three, picking black cherry tomatoes at the bungalow, going to church at Sojourn, walking the pups down Frankfort Ave, and eating fish and chips at The Blind Pig in Butchertown. {My belly has never been happier!}. Thankful for time with faraway friends that I don't deserve. Here's to being known and loved!

{Gratitude} Lately

Wednesday, September 05, 2012

Been thankful for good coffee and baristas who call when you forget your credit card.

For French Toast as thick as 2x4's.

For the fullness of orchestras paired with some of my favorite musicians.

For lazy mornings and mid-day chai breaks.

For homegrown cukes & raw honey from these hives.

For a re-seasoned Griswold #8 that keeps my breakfast from sticking.

For new fishing waders and signs of Fall.

And for local bike shops who make commutes so much sweeter.  What have you been grateful for lately? Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough. Happy Wednesday, brave ones.

{Husband's Letters}

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Dear Emma, yesterday morning you brought me breakfast in bed. There's nothing quite like waking up to a beautiful wife holding a cup of coffee and a plate of bacon. Dear College Dudes, Last weekend we reunited for our 7th annual Manathon. We played countless hours of wiffle ball and laughed until our bodies reminded us how old we have become. Grateful for you guys. Dear Team Roberson, I'm excited about our road trip to Asheville at the end of the month! Here's to good times camping, fly fishing, and drinking a Dark Horse IPA at the Thirsty Monk. Dear Emily Anne, I love that after 7 years of marriage and 10 years of being together we are still learning new things about each other. Love you more than cool autumn nights and naps in our Kammoks.

Speaking of breakfast in bed, what's your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? I'm a simple guy and stick to coffee and toast most mornings.

{Happy Labor Day}

Monday, September 03, 2012

Look who came home early from his trip last night. Thankful to have an extra day to sleep in and spend time with this handsome man. Hope your Labor Day is lovely and filled with lots of rest and good things.
