{Happy Holloweenie}

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Dear Mr. Loerke, Every day in October I tell you my favorite Halloween joke. Each time you laugh as if you've never heard it before. I love this. Dear Inbox, Yesterday I unsubscribed to 18 different emails. I already feel 5lbs lighter and I didn't even have to run around the block. Dear Mr. McFeely, the letter and leaf you delivered from Oregon was the perfect way to end my favorite month. What a gift it is to be known. Dear Timothy James, Why can't ghosts have babies? Wait for it ... waaaait for it. Because they have Hollow-weenies! Argh .. argh ... argh.

Happy October 31st, Homies! What are your plans for tonight?

Saturday's beekeeping class was AMAZING.
Our instructor, Jose, taught us about Langstroth hives, top bar hives,
drones, honey extraction, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, colony collapse disorder,
winterizing bees, and how to open a hive without getting stung a 573 times.
Our friends Abby, Bek, Darby and Molls are beekeepers and have inspired us
to get our own hives once we move to Kentucky.
Overall, bees are low-maintenance and don't require a ton of attention.
As long as they have their queen and are well-fed they'll produce up to 80 pounds of honey a year!
If you're interested in learning more about bees be sure and check out Round Rrock Honey's website.
We thought our class was a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
Happy Tuesday, friends!

Dear Mr. Loerke, this weekend we slept in, ate cake for breakfast, took a beekeeping class, read four chapters of this book, and rode bikes in the house. Let's never grow up. Dear Jeremy at NTB, thanks from the bottom of my chuck roast for letting me put my groceries in your fridge while you fixed my flat tire. You're officially my husband's new hero. Dear Oak Cliff Bicycle, I've never seen a prettier commuter bici. Thanks for turning my 1983 Stumpy into something I want to sleep with. Dear Timothy James, you be the handsomest man I've ever known, especially in this video.

Happy Monday, friends! What was your first bicycle growing up? Twinner and I had pink Schwinns. We rode them through the mud as fast as we could.

Dear Em, thanks for introducing me to bands like The Head & The Heart, The Lumineers, Ryan Adams, and Ben Howard. I've stopped listening to sports radio because of these guys. Dear Orvis Access Fly Rod, you've fished in Arkansas, Kentucky, New Mexico, North Carolina, and now in the trout streams of Oklahoma. Can't wait to take you to Colorado someday. Dear Future Job In Louisville, I know you'll turn up. Thank you for growing me in patience and trust. Dear Mrs. Loerke, you inspire me to give grace, love more, and smile often. You are a work of beauty! I love you.

Happy {almost} weekend! What have you been listening to lately?

Dear Mr. Loerke, Yesterday you drove to Broken Bow, OK for some dude time with your buddy Tim. You slept in Kammoks, drank Woodford Reserve, caught fish on the Lower Mountain Fork, and returned with more chest hair. #happyhusband Dear Today, Staying in you is hard sometimes when I have excitement for tomorrow; learning contentment is much harder than I thought. Dear Applesauce Spice Cake, You. Me. This weekend. In the kitchen. While listening to Neil Young's, Harvest Moon. Gonna Happen. Dear Timothy James, wanna take a beekeeping class with me Saturday? You'd look shexxy rocking a bee veil.

Once Tim and I move to Louisville we hope to have bees. What's one class you'd like to take to learn something new?

{Yosemite} Half Dome

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

“Yosemite Valley, to me, is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space.” - Ansel Adams

We road tripped. We camped.
We hiked. We got wet. We were happy.
Yosemite was simply amazing. It was every bit as beautiful as Ansel described.
Can't wait to go back and summit Half Dome.
Rain forced us to turn around after hiking 4.5mi up the mountain.
We still had an incredible time, and everyone we met on the trail was the sweetest.
Yes to getting outside. Yes to time spent with dear friends. And yes to adventure.
Happy Tuesday, y'all!

Dear Mr. Loerke, this weekend I flew up to Louisville to look at a house. When I returned I found a pumpkin on my night stand. Reason #275 why boy roommates are AWESOME. #betterthanflowers Dear Hillbilly Tea, three fist pumps for being my new favorite place to eat brunch. Your mountain comfort foods and organic whole leaf teas made my heart swoon. Dear Home Loan, who knew you had to have KY pay stubs to get one of you? Here's to trusting that there will be another dream house for us to call home. Dear Timothy James, you are the bravest man I know. The BRAVEST.

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Did you visit a place you love? Fill your belly with something that made you happy? Learn something new? Hug someone dear? I hope so!
