{Projects} Around The Harvest House : Part I

Thursday, March 28, 2013

This past week we've been busy at the Harvest House scoring things like this gem off of Craigslist.
It weighs 400 lbs and nearly gave us a hernia trying to move it. We. are. old.
Soon it will have a refinished top and set up shop in our entryway.

Tim has been working long hours with our buddy Eric on our farm table.
Yesterday they sent it through the drum sander at Louisville Lumber & Mill.
Definitely worth every bit of the $30 it cost to make this baby smooth.

Speaking of Eric, he's a man of many talents. Over the weekend he refinished our claw foot tub.
It looks amazing! You can email him at ejsforest@gmail.com if you're interested in in getting a bid.

We've also been working on smaller projects like assembling our compost bin, hanging towel bars in the bathrooms & unpacking. All I have to say is come Lord Jesus before I have to open another box.

Hope you have been enjoying your week! What projects have you been working on lately?
Happy Thursday, brave ones.

{Gratitude} Lately

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Lately I've been thankful slow mornings and waffle holes filled with Bourbon Barrel Maple Syrup.

For walks on the beach in February and cold water that makes me wiggle my toes.

For lavender chai chantico and bearded chocolatiers.

For communal living and extra bacon.

For hand thrown mugs and the Girl Scout cookies that fill them.

For kindred spirits and Amish general stores.

For afternoon sunlight and banisters to slide down.

For road trips with family and for trufles worth waiting in line for.
What have you been grateful for lately?
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Tuesday, brave ones!

{Moving Day}

Monday, March 25, 2013

Moving Day : One Uhaul, four cars, five friends, two pups, a Craigslist purchase & SNOW.
While unpacking Saturday I found River sleeping like this -
halfway off her bed with her face smooshed up against our food dehydrator.
It made me thankful to finally be in the Harvest House.
Happy Monday, brave ones. Off to organize our basement and closets.
{Insert happy place rrright hurrr}

{The Harvest House}

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Harvest [harv-vist] : verb - to gather; to reap; to gain.
Welcome to our Harvest House;
Named after a coffee can I found at a flea market a few months ago.
Today is moving day and we couldn't be more excited.
Three bedrooms, two baths, a clawfoot tub, front porch, root cellar, third floor studio, two fireplaces, pocket doors, gas stove, and hardwoods that creak. Sheesh.
We. Are. Blessed.
Happy Spring, brave ones!

{Today's Letters}

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Dear Mr. Loerke, so far this week you've filled up my car with gas at 6:15am, unclogged our toilet, and folded three loads of laundry. You deserve a raise. Dear Green Living Fair, workshops about beekeeping, gardening, raw milk cheese, goats,  wool, and pottery? Reason #748 why I love the Bluegrass Sate. Dear Homemade Lasagna, you took two skillets, two pounds of cheese, and two days to eat. Thanks for being cheaper than crack. #we'readdicted Dear Timothy James (who always gets two letters), remember when we agreed to buy this house? Tomorrow we get keys. What the what.

Happy Wednesday, brave ones! Any advice for first time home buyers? We're all ears!

{South Carolina}

Monday, March 18, 2013

{To see more photos of our trip go here}

A couple of weeks ago some friends and I spent a week in South Carolina.
We walked on the beach, collected sea shells, saw tiny crabs, ate cupcakes at Battery Park,
listened to Moon River by saxophone in Chippewa Square, tasted Tupelo Honey in Savannah, and walked past Antebellum homes in downtown Charleston.
It was glorious being in the south!
What do you love most about The Carolinas?
