{Wolf Pen Mill}

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

Recently our friends Rich & Tess showed us the ancient three story corn mill on the land where they live.
It sits perched on a ledge overlooking a waterfall with a 20 foot drop.
It was D-R-E-A-M-Y.
The mill is currently being restored by millwright, Ben Hassett, and
will soon have water gushing over it's massive wooden wheel again causing the stones to grind
and the old building to shake just as it did over 150 years ago.
Thank you old stones, for the story you told.
Thank you Rich, for exploring with Tim and bringing out his most playful side.
Thank you Tess, for telling me to stick my head out of this window so I could
see more than the window wanted to share.
Thank you Kentucky, for finally being the home we've always longed for.
You. inspire. us.

Wow, this is so beautiful. As a New York City girl with a country heart, this was just the bit of green grass and running water that I needed to see today.

SO cool to see! Didn't expect to see it on here (and I live in Maine). My friend's husband, Kyle Murphy, worked on the project with Ben.

I love how much you love your new Kentucky home. I've visited Louisville a couple of times and it really does seem like a gem.
