Dear Mr. Loerke, before I met you I had never had my bourbon neat, shot squirrels with a pellet gun, or watched an episode of Prison Break. Reason #278 why boy roommates are AWE-TO-THE-SOME. Dear Blackberry Cobbler, you go great with a side of eggs & coffee for breakfast. Thanks for letting me taste summer before 9am. Dear Heartbox, you often remind me the absence of gratitude is the presence of pride. May I always remember that I have three sinks {thanks MMR} and much to be thankful for. Dear Timothy James (who always gets two letters), yesterday we sat on the front porch and cranked ice cream until our shoulders ached. Love you more than reliving childhood memories and two hungry pups who lick the window as much as we lick our bowls.

Happy Wednesday, brave ones! What's your favorite summer ice cream? I'm convinced homemade & hand cranked should come with a warning label.

Yummers! Looks like a great idea. Do both pups live with you now, or is River's friend just visiting? They are precious.

Love the pups looking out the window in anticipation!

small tip from when I made ice cream while sailing - get a board for the top of the ice cream bin and sit on it. Pushing down on the lever is easier.

Favoriten ice cream flavor has always been cinnamon and pistachio. Yes, I do realize that's actually two flavors but I always get them together so that counts as one, right? ;-)
Happy Wednesday!

1. I love the way you think. And the way you use your words.
2. I am so grateful for the way have taught me to be grateful through these posts.
3. I thought I was the only woman in the whole world who has watched PRISON BREAK. I haven't learned to love it, but it's good to know that I'm not alone! I got a good lol out of reading that one, Em!

My Favorite is just plain HomeMade Vanilla...My dad would tell you to put a big thick towel over the top to 1) keep it cold cold cold & 2) makes a good seat for the neighborhood kids you talk into turning the crank (you need more than one, as they learn very fast that it's not that much fun)
Happy Summertime Memories...
...in the summer time when the weather is high...

Last year for the 4th of July we decided to try "ice cream in a bag". Granted, you don't get the quantity as the home-churned stuff, but for a gathering, it was so fun! We added flavorings (mint or maple or chocolate chips, etc) and it turned out great!

My favorite, though? Mint chip. Hands down.

My boy roommate got me hooked on Prison Break too. He's in engineering, so he fell in love with it immediately. And then I watched one episode and I did too! It is the best!

Hand cranked ice cream brings back so many sweet memories of my Granny. All the grand kids took turns and our reward was the most delicious grape nut ice cream. It's still my favorite <3

I borrowed the absence of gratitude is the presence of pride! That absolutely overwhelmed me

Love homemade ice cream but since I am lactose intolerant, I have learned to make a mean dairy free rocky road that my dairy-loving husband even likes!

Em, I am trying to understand the point about the three sinks. Do you mean that you are grateful because you are a blessed person to have 3 sinks (which is a blessing, some do no even have 1!), or does is there a different meaning to this? Sorry if this is a silly question :)
