{Projects Around The Harvest House} Part VII

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

It's been a few months since we've posted an update on some projects we've been working on!

Well, some of us have been working hard. {Others hardly working}.

We decided to repurpose an antique fly fishing creel into our new mailbox.
And you thought we were excited about checking the mail before!

We also built a platform from the leftover carport wood to elevate the chicken feed bins.

So far our girls {and Scofield} have decided to take residence underneath it while enjoying the shade.

The boys also built a chunnel this weekend for the chickens to run in since they've managed to destroy all of the grass in our backyard over the summer.
So far this has proven to be a good use of dead space behind our raised beds.

Thanks for following along with us as we try and make the Harvest House a home!
Our next project will involve installing a solar panel to power a heat lamp in the coop over the winter.

Just ask Bek to sew little foil suits for the chickens to keep them warm.

I have always wanted chickens! I'm sure they are a lot of work, but what a lovely thought!

I need to ask a serious question about your chickens and rooster. What do your neighbors think of them? The man who lives through the woods from us has chickens and a rooster, and I would not cry if a fox got into his coop and ate them all.
