{Happy Martin Luther King Day!}

Tuesday, January 21, 2014

For those of you who have been following our blog for awhile know that yesterday was

For the past five years we've celebrated Martin Luther King day with friends by cooking his favorite meal {fried chicken, sweet potato casserole, macaroni & cheese, green beans, pecan pie} and watching a movie or documentary about his efforts to end racial segregation.
If you haven't seen The Butler or 12 Years As A Slave we highly recommend them both!

Happy Tuesday, brave ones! We hope your MLK day was memorable and inspiring.

I watched the Butler on the plane en route to Africa last week. Amazing.

He was a good man :) Especially since I grew up in the South, I can appreciate better the racial tensions that still exist today. But it's neat to think that this is still getting better because of the work he did.

Awesome. Here in Iowa, a lot of bigger schools honor him by not having school which seems a bit odd to me. He was a man who thought very highly of education after all!
Truly enjoy your blog and following you on instagram. Congratulations on you pregnancy - enjoy every second - it goes by so fast!
Thanks for making me smile!

You guys are a wonderful group. I love that you celebrate this day... really celebrate. I may have to adopt your tradition as my own.

P.S. You're looking gorgeous as you grow that baby!
