{Rough Draft Farmstead} Road Trip

Thursday, February 13, 2014

Last weekend we drove down to Gamalie, KY to visit our sweet friends Hannah & Jesse.
Highlights included:
No cell service, electricity, or running water for 24 hours.
Eating homemade rabbit stew for dinner.
Bottle feeding three little piglets named Trousers, Gomer, and Boris.
Drinking warm maple sap tapped from their maple trees.
Waking up to seven roosters at 4am.
Watching the snow fall from a hole in the outhouse wall.
Eating sweet potato kale hash with bantam eggs for brekky.
Touring their 7 acre homestead and learning more about organic farming.
Stopping in Nashville for coffee, ice cream, burgers, tacos and more ice cream.
I couldn't have asked for a better road trip.
Happy Thursday, brave ones!

Road trips are the best! And these pictures are amazing. Such cuties those little piglets!
But to be honest what came first to my western mind when reading this was how does someone survive these days without electricity and running water?! I'm amazed but I just can't imagine it!
