Dear Timothy James, when I'm nursing Brave in the middle of the night you've started kissing my elbow to let me know you're awake and ready to change her diaper. I like your new form of Morse code. Dear Rowan, yesterday you threw 27 rocks at Brave's head. I think this means you'll be the best of friends. Dear Maternal Instincts, you make me do things like lick the milk moustaches off of Bravey Train's face. I love having a cub. Dear Mr. Loerke, last week you went to Target two different times to buy me more boobie baskets, breast pads, and nipple cream. Next time I'll throw in a meat thermometer and a six pack of beer just so you won't feel like you've lost your man card.

Happy Sunday, brave ones! Hope it's been good to you! For all of you mama's out there, what do you like best about having a cub?

So simply sweet.

My favorite is the cuddles. Now they are not so often but they are sure all the sweeter.
Blessings!

I've got three cubs but sadly, none are babies anymore. When they were babies, my favorite thing was getting them squeaky clean out of the bath, rubbed down with lotion and in a warm sleeper. Sitting down in the quiet of the evening and nursing before bed--hearing that rhythmic swallow, almost a hum they make when nursing is the most beautiful sound in the wide world. I loved that best and miss that most. What I wouldn't give to go back and have one more day with mine as small as your Brave is now...

Now that they are bigger (10,8 and 4yrs old), I love that I get to do childhood all over again. Through them, with them, I get to go back and be a kid and that's just fun.

It changes every week but currently it's the big squishy lipped kisses, the watching her tinker and explore, the nursing her to sleep around a campfire and taking in her long but stilly baby-ish toddler self in all of her joy and frustration and beauty. I just love being the mama bear to such a sweet and feisty little soul.

Your little Brave is going to blow you away in the months to come as I am sure she is already doing in each moment. Enjoy!

My cub is one year old now. I have loved every stage of his growth and it just seems to get better. I think the best thing about being a mama bear is this amazing privilege of being there with our little ones every step of the way, caring for them, nurturing them, and then eventually releasing them slowly into more and more independence from us. It begins from the moment they take their first few breaths! It is a scary thing at times, but truly amazing to watch and be a part of. Enjoy every moment with your precious Brave.

The unconditional love <3 the way he smiles when he sees me from across the room and crawls over to me and lifts up his arms for a cuddle. Also the relationship between my little man and his dad, that quote "I never knew how much I loved your daddy until I saw how much he loved you" is so true. Enjoy this precious time, be kind to yourself too -K :)

When I was pregnant, I distinctly remembering a friend tell me, "Just wait, each month of having him will get better and better." My first baby is now 18 months old and I have to say, that is SO true! Every month that has gone by, my husband and I say, "now this month/age is my favorite!" It is so fun to see him learn and explore new things, month after month. I'm sure as a mama, I'll always feel that way, even when he is grown.

My wee one is almost 5 months old. I just adore her. From her sassy little personality that is budding to her massive cheeky/dimply/toothless grin ... she is just the bees knees. The sweetest times I have with her are the middle of the night feedings. Every night I just want to sit and hold her forever. But then I remember how tired I am.

Hugging them and holding hands...still. My cubs are 23 and 17 (yrs)and still reach out to hold mine and hug me everyday...I'm blessed.

So tiny and sweet! Congratulations :) What I love most is I'm getting a second chance in a way. I get to be the kind of mom I didn't get to have. So much love!

My cubs are now turning into big manly bears. At 17 & 19, I love that they still ask "mom, I'd like to buy a truck, what do you think"? Or, "I need a good book, what would you suggest"?. The heart never grows less fond, no matter the size. Don't be scared.

I seriously love your blog and how honestly you write. And I love seeing and hearing about Brave and how you are doing! I have 7 week old twin girls and love snuggling them after bath time like Casey said above. I love when they look at me, deep in my eyes, and I love when they stop crying when I pick them up and snuggle them. With two, I haven't been able to nurse like I wanted and feedings are not as snuggly and drawn out as they could be with one, but I love the time I get with each of them! Congratulations on being a mommy and figuring out the nursing thing! :)
