Thank you for taking me to see the ocean.

For rocking me to sleep when mom is sick.

For watching Baby Einstein with me.

For keeping me warm in your vest burrito.

For taking me running with you.

And for reminding me that BBQ tastes better than my dress.

{Gratitude} Lately

Sunday, August 24, 2014

Lately I've been thankful for a promising honey harvest.

For this girl who still fits in our kitchen sink.

For Wiltshire's peach cinny's.

For friends who make their dreams become a reality.

For shared pizza and Shiner on the front porch.

For little boys who smell like sweat and firewood.

For homegrown red lightening tomatoes.

For a babe who poops in her towel minutes after her bath.

And for cool summer mornings spent in our backyard.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Sunday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Today's Letters}

Friday, August 22, 2014

Dear Timothy James, so far this week you've folded 4 loads of laundry, picked up Zofran from the pharmacy for me at 3am, and rocked Brave to sleep after my 234th failed attempt. Thanks for being such a faithful wingman. Dear Bravey Train, you teach me lots of things, mostly to stay flexible. This reminder was especially good after Monday's flat tire. Dear West Coast Road Trip, nothing made us question our zip code more than after seeing Big Sur and Portland. That said, I'm thankful we call the 8th best city in America home! Dear Mr. Loerke, today the aunties and my mom visit Louisville. This means you will be outnumbered 6 to 1 when it comes to estrogen at the Harvest House. I hope it's okay I told River she could fart and pee with her leg up as often as she wants.

Happy Friday, brave ones! What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

{Evening Thoughts}

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Stroller coffee is better than no coffee.

{Husband's Letters}

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Dear Emma, lately you have reminded me of the importance of self-care by getting outside and exercising. I am grateful for your encouragement to be a better man! Dear Brave, you like to pretend you're sleeping whenever the sun is in your eyes. I think this is a neat trick. Dear Papa, you look like a man of the wild seas with your long hair. I can't wait for you to visit next month. Dear Number One Encourager, thank you for loving me well during our 10 day West Coast road trip by reminding me to choose peace and humility over fear and pride. I am the man I am today because of your honest words. I love you!

Happy Thursday! After visiting Oregon Em and I both agreed we could live there. Portland especially captured our hearts! If you could live anywhere in the US where would it be?

{Egg Sales}

Egg sales be good. REAL good.

{Our State Fair}

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

"Our State Fair is a great state fair
Don't miss it, don't even be late
{our State Fair is great}
It's dollars to donuts at our State Fair
It's the best State Fair in the state..."
- State Fair, 1945

Yesterday's eats included fried Derby pie, two corny dogs, a gyro sandwich, roasted corn, homemade
ice cream, local fudge, and a caramel apple that was washed down with a lemonade shake-up.
My. belly. is. still. full.
We also watched the great doberman dog show, saw a 217 lb watermelon, and were inspired to
enter our honey and homegrown veggies into next year's competition.
The most entertaining event {besides the 4-H exibit} was the FMX stunt show.
Dudes who can soar through the air on dirt bikes to Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle"
are M-A-G-I-C-A-L.
I can only make one conclusion after yesterday's adventure :
Kentucky, your State Fair is a great state fair ...
It's the best State Fair in the state.

Happy Wednesday!
What's your favorite thing to do and eat at the fair?

{Morning Thoughts}

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Today's Goal : Eat something besides Fig Newtons for breakfast.
Thankful for a best friend who spoiled me.

{Dear Papa}

Sunday, August 10, 2014

Thank you for swaddling me to sleep after you work the night shift in the ER.

For taking the time to explain to me how to smoke a brisket.

For letting me give you corncob kisses when I'm hungry.

For introducing me to Mr. T and the rest of the A-Team.

For doing stroller wheelies with me on our walks.

For making me smile while we swing on the front porch.

For letting me sleep through my first trip to Home Depot.

For making silly faces so I'll stop crying.

And for wearing your hat sideways so the sun doesn't turn me into a lobster.
I love you,
