{Press Coffee} Dayton, OH

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

This weekend's road trip brought us to Press Coffee.
Their cortado was killer and two sweet high school girls held Brave so I could pee.
I was thankful.
Good things in Dayton, y'all.

{Ollie's Trolley}

Sunday, September 28, 2014

When my friend Whit was little she was rewarded with a trip to Ollie's Trolley
after getting shots at the doctor's office.
I loved this story so much that I asked her to take Brave and I to experience it's goodness first hand.
We ordered an Ollie burger "dressed" {unlike Brave} with a side of two seasoned fries.
It was pure greasy goodness.
Next time we'll order two burgers with a side of diaper bag.
Happy Sunday, dear ones.
What was your favorite childhood restaurant?

She has more rolls than the Pine State and keeps my breastaurants in business.
Happy 5 months, sweet Brave.

{The Front Porch}

Friday, September 26, 2014

On Sunday there were three generations on this front porch.
Everything tasted like apple wood and hickory & smelled like fall.
We were thankful.

{Gratitude Lately}

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Lately I've been thankful for flannel shirts and the changing of seasons.

For afternoon donuts and morning coffee.

For lap babes and wrist rolls.

For winter jam enjoyed at summer's end.

For 16 lb packages that still fit here.

For Sunday afternoon drawing lessons.

For homemade salsa and growing our own food.

For shared fried pickles across the river.

And for daily hugs with stroller buddies.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Thursday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Today's Letters}

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Dear Mr. Loerke, this weekend I learned that "aspirate" is a fancy word for choke. I also learned that brisket is smoked at 45 minutes per pound. I love the things you teach me. Dear Brave, sometimes I lay you on the kitchen floor when I'm cooking dinner. River likes to lick you like a Popsicle, but I tell myself it's a fair trade for getting to cook with both of my hands. Dear Bean Boots, after getting you new laces and resoled this summer I can't wait to start wearing you again. Well loved > buying new. Dear Timothy James, yesterday's errands looked more like dropping me off places while you drove around in circles to keep our offspring asleep. {Insert new understanding for rolled stop signs here}.

Happy Tuesday! What's something new you've learned lately?

{Our Fourth Honey Harvest}

Friday, September 19, 2014

{All photos by sweet Molly Roberson}

Last week we harvested a couple of frames of honey from our hive.
Even though this was significantly less than last year's yield due to splitting our hive this summer,
we still enjoyed being one with the bees.
Our honey this year has citrus notes and is sweeter than any of our other harvests.
{Which tasted more like lavender and clover}
Hopefully we'll be able to harvest a few more gallons of honey before winter.
We'll keep you posted if we have enough to sell online again!
Happy weekend, brave ones.
You. made. it.
