Dear Timothy James, yesterday I took a floral arranging class and came home with this. I can't remember half of the flowers I used but the Harvest House smells amazeballs. Thank you for always encouraging me in my endeavors to try new things! Dear Airbnb Guests from Tennessee, you brought home bones for our pup, overpaid us for the 10 pints of homemade jam and pickles you bought, and left us a stack of parenting magazines in the loft. Your thoughtfulness humbled the sheet out of us. Dear Student Loans, when I graduated from college 12 years ago making your payments seemed like draining the ocean with an eye dropper. This morning you were paid in full and all I wanna do is skinny dip. #grateful Dear Mr. Loerke, yesterday you installed our car seat, put together the stroller, and folded baby onsies the size of a tortilla. And I've never seen you happier. #letsdothis

Happy Monday, brave ones! What are your favorite flowers? I fell in love with lilacs and bay leaves yesterday!

Lately I've been thankful for walks with these two and the love they share.

For fresh beet juice and growing babes.

For moo-untains and the open road.

And for little people who remind me to find joy in bouncing a tennis ball against the dryer.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Saturday!
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Buena Vista} Colorado

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

It was so good to be in Buena Vista again!
Some highlights included:
Waking up to the collegiate peaks outside our window each morning.
Running into a sweet reader at the BV Roastery. {Morgan, it was wonderful meeting you!}
Watching snow fall on the chalk cliffs.
Catching trout on Cottonwood Lake.
Seeing horses, bighorn sheep, deer, and other wildlife up close.
Making the most out of our detour to Aspen by wading through snow drifts up to our waist at Twin Lakes.
Fly fishing on the Arkansas River.
Meeting up with a dear friend from college for dinner in Salida.
Eating our weight in pizza and artichoke dip at the Eddyline Brewery, stuffing our bocas with donuts from Loback's, devouring cupcakes and coffee from Brown Dog, dining on french toast and eggs benny for breakfeast at the Evergreen Cafe, and watching basketball most nights with a side of brownie sundaes from K's.
More photos and highlights soon from our time in Durango and fly fishing in New Mexico!
Happy Wednesday, brave ones!
XOXO

Dear Timothy James, not seeing your face for 10 days made me A) miss the smell of your aftershave B) name my biggest trout after you and C) appreciate your baking skills even more. Thank you for holding down the fort while I was gone! Dear Rocky Mountains & Trout Streams, farewell, mis amores. Spending a week in your presence was better than Sunday morning donuts and sleeping in past 10am yesterday. Dear Divergent, you kept us awake when we couldn't spell the word E-X-I-T on our 60hr road trip from KY to CO. Fist pumps for being more entertaining than all the truck stops in Wakeeney, Kansas. Dear Mr. Loerke, last week you drove to Ohio just to pick up a chair for our little's room. Your determination to provide a resting place for me to nurse made me feel so loved!

Happy Monday, brave ones! In the spirit of being on the river most of last week I forgot to fill out my March Madness bracket for the first time in years. {Which is probably a good thing since I always pick my beloved Jayhawks to clean house, but not this year. #wah}. Nonetheless, I can't wait for the UK vs U of L game this Friday. Who else will be watching??

What happens when an 8 month pregnant lady, her best friend, and 9 month old babe take a 25 hour road trip from Kentucky to Colorado?
They stop. Lots.
Mostly for coffee, pie, and bear hugs at truck stops.
Thank you Jesus for great conversation, road trip snacks, books on tape, and tumbleweeds to count that blow across the highway.

{Happy National Pi Day!}

Things River Likes: chasing birds in alleyways, snorting snow like crack, and
balancing bacon on her nose.

Things River doesn't like: being excluded from cuddles, getting her tongue stuck in mixing beaters, and bagel beards.
Happy Thursday!

Dear Timothy James, our conversation yesterday on the front porch blessed me more than the sunroof I had down while running errands, the walk I took with River to Cherokee Park, and the fish tacos I ate for dinner. So grateful for you! Dear Humble Pie, you know you're 8 months pregnant when you drop something behind the dresser and you tell yourself, "I'll get that sometime after the baby's born when bending over doesn't seem like climbing Everest without an oxygen tank." Dear 3rd Floor Loft, in one week you've housed an artist and architect from Chicago and two ice cream shop owners from Indianapolis. Can't wait to see what other amazing people will stay at the Harvest House. Dear Mr. Loerke, to the man who has written all of our thank you notes from our baby shower-- pretty sure you've earned yourself a trip to Dairy Kastle later. Over and out.

Happy Tuesday, brave ones! Next week I'll be in Colorado for one last fly fishing trip before our sweet babe comes. Anyone else headed to the mountains for spring break?

Lately I've been thankful for road trips to new cities and theater chairs filled with 21lbs of cuteness.

For walks on sunny days that offer relief from living in a snow globe.

For chickens who selflessly give us fresh eggs each morning and bananas ripe for baking.

For adventures of South Africa told here with friends who remind me to live simply.

For boobie baskets that fit and the daily reminder that life isn't about me.

For dudes on the west coast who send us thoughtful baby gifts and ballin coffee.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Thursday, brave ones!
What have you been thankful for lately?

Dear Timothy James, your playfulness continues to be the secret sauce to our marriage burger. Thanks for reminding me to toss dirty diapers into our trashcan like a basketball hoop and to wrestle with River before tucking her into bed. Dear Gifted Spoon, sometimes thoughtfulness can make even breakfast taste better in the mornings. Here's to wombmates and extra brown sugar to make the instant oatmeal go down. Dear Airbnb, we listed our 3rd floor loft two days ago online and we already have an artist from Chicago staying with us tonight. I love communal living. Dear Mr. Loerke, this morning you told me our babe is the size of a head of lettuce and weighs 3.5lbs. If it weren't for your 7 pregnancy apps on your iPhone I'd have no idea what vegetable was doing somersaults in my belly. Over and out.

Happy Wednesday, brave ones! Have you ever stayed at someone's house using Airbnb before? Any tips or advice for us newbies?
