{Happy Birthday} Timothy James!

Happy 34th to the man who lives in scrubs and Carhartts, eats his French fries with a fork,
is happiest by a campfire, and loves Jesus more than anything.
So thankful you were born!

{Merry Christmas!}

Friday, December 26, 2014

We hope your Christmas was spent with those you love celebrating the birth of our Savior!
I was reminded a hundred times over the importance of family and His grace.
Some highlights included:
 Attending Christmas Eve service with the Aunties
Stringing popcorn and cranberries on our tree
Watching A Christmas Story while drinking Cookies & Cream Chocolate Bourbon Milkshakes
Eating gingerbread waffles Christmas morning.
Watching Brave play with string and her new Elmo doll.
Taking our annual Christmas walk.
What was the highlight of your Christmas?
Happy Friday, brave ones!

{Gratitude Lately}

Saturday, December 20, 2014

Lately I've been thankful for gifted silver maple and a dude who can swing an axe.

For treasures found in the walls of our attic.

For the last piece of Aunt Bill's candy.

For catching this one ridin dirty.

And for bacon and tangerine booch for breakFEAST.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Saturday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for most in 2014?

{Today's Letters}

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Dear Mr. Loerke, last week's backpacking trip left you with 22 more mile notches in your Appalachian Trail belt. So proud of you! Dear 9 Weeks of Remodeling, you've grown me in patience more than water on a Chia Pet. {Insert three cries for "uncle" here}. Dear Brave, we spend our mornings together listening to NPR One while you jump in your saucer and roar like a lion. I love this time more than the coffee I pour into my eyeballs at 7am. Dear Timothy James, bonus points for using our guest bathroom as a duck blind while you protect our chicken feed from squirrels as if it were the last piece of bacon on the planet. Over and out.

Happy Wednesday, y'all! What's one adventure you want to go on in 2015?

{Meyer Christmas Tree Farm}

Friday, December 12, 2014

This was our second year to cut down our Christmas tree at Meyer Tree Farm.
We had a blast taking the Aunties and Jerry Garcia my dad with us!
Some highlights included :
Eating half a pan of Aunt Bill's Candy in the car ride to Indiana
Finding a bird's nest for Brave's first Christmas tree
Making it over the Ohio River without our 10ft Scotch Pine falling off the hood of the 4Runner
Dancing to Taylor Swift at 11pm as we bedazzled our tree with lights
Watching Tim & Auntie C perform Mariah Carey's O Holy Night with the Loerke family star.
I. love. my. family.
Happy Friday, brave ones!
What do you love most about your tree?

{Watauga & South Holston Rivers} TN

Thursday, December 11, 2014

You know it's a good day on the river when ...
You're being guided by Orvis' guide of the year, Patrick Fulkrod.
You're eating Snickers and drinking a cold IPA before 11am.
Your shoulders hurt from catching over 60 wild brown trout.
You discover a 10ft 5wt Helios is your favorite fly rod.
You forget to pump because you're having so much fun.
You watch your best friend catch the biggest brown of her life.
You realize your worst enemy is daylights savings.
And you plan your next trip to the Watauga and South Holston before you hit the boat ramp.
Never before have I had so much fun catching trout.
Thanks Patrick for being the best guide.
You put us on fish and made us laugh the whole day!
Happy Thursday, brave ones.
Here's to doing something you love!

Sometimes the best part about the holidays is being slain in the Christmas spirit.

{West Coast Road Trip} Cannon Beach

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

If you've been following our blog for awhile you know how we feel about The Goonies ...
We followed them size 5's all the way down to Cannon Beach and watched the dudes surf.
The babes got sand in every crevice and Molls and I daydreamed about our next trip to Portland.
Seeing Haystack Rock was a better than a freezer full of Mississippi Mud and Chocolate Eruption!
A day at the beach was a great way to end our West Coast Road Trip.
Can't wait to go back!
Happy Saturday, y'all.
