Dear Timothy James, thank you for setting out Brave's jammer's, diaper, and blanket before leaving for night shift. I smile with gratitude each time I see her bedtime buffet laid out on her bedroom floor. Dear Brave, we took you down the most decorated street in Louisville for Halloween. You made us laugh when you thought all of the ghosts were "sheep" and skeletons "scary babies." Dear 1991 Jeep Cherokee, you've taken Twinner on many adventures over the years. After selling the Prius it feels good to have you grafted into the Harvest House fleet! Dear Mr. Loerke, yesterday I drove away with a box of donuts on the roof of the car and you graciously picked them up out of the street while walking to the post office. Thank you for embracing all parts of me, especially my mom brain.

Happy Saturday, y'all! What's one thing you've left on your car and forgotten about?

I once left a Sonic slush on the roof of my car after I drove all the way from my parents' farm (in the boonies) to town for it. I didn't realize what I'd done until I was back at the farm. hahaha

Josh Nokes left an iPad on top of the car once. I can't reach the top of the car to leave things, but I do make four trips back inside to grab things that I've missed.

I left my wallet of all things! Thankfully a friend of mine was still in the car park and picked it and its contents up off the floor then texted me to tell me to come back for it!

I once left my Bible on top of my car. I drove off and it flew off near a large semi drop off. When I went back to look for it, it was definitely run over by a few thousand tons of semi trucks, but was overall legible and was only missing 2 Timothy haha I took that as a lesson in humility and letting go of a material possession I prided over. :) and also made wonder if I should memorize 2 Timothy in the event that it ever happened again!

maybe I'm setting myself up, but I haven't YET left anything on the top of my car and drove away with it. I do remember, though, being a youngster and my mom left the cordless home phone (when people still had those) on the top of the car. it took a number of people pointing at the top of our car before she figured it out (and I think somehow it didn't fall off! I don't know how!).

For me it always drinks. Especially the good ones from the coffee shops. Haha! Kids! They keep us moms distracted and then it is too late.

We got pulled over in Eureka because I left my purse on the roof after the laundry-mat and Harts. Do you remember?

All of our cash from our wedding! We had pulled into a gas station right after our reception to fuel up and I was tasked with rearranging the care so we could see out the back - guess what got left on top of the car?? Every card we received! I realized my mistake about 2 miles later, but by the time we went back there was nothing to be found...a few phone calls later led us to discover that some incredibly kind stranger saw the whole thing, pick up every single envelope, and drove straight to the police station! The first time I signed my married name was at a police station, still in my wedding dress. Insanity!

I had just bought my "new to me" passat wagon and gave it a celebratory fill-up at the gas station. Left my wallet on the car and started driving home on the freeway. 10 or so minutes in and I hit stop and go traffic where a man behind me was waving at me trying to get my attention. I was so worried, cause I thought maybe something was wrong with my car and I'd bought a lemon and hadn't even gotten it home yet - but he pulled up along side me and told me "my purse or something" was on the back of my car! Thank the lordy for all that change in there that weighed it down! Pulled off the road and snatched it! Congrats on the "new to you" car!!

My husband packed up the last of our things into the pickup truck on moving day. One of which was the desk. With a drawer. With documents we needed at closing. Can't remember how it all worked out, but it did. Just remember being young, in love and learning life lessons together. Still are!

A pan of (fresh! warm!) brownies. Didn't realize my horrible blunder until it crashed off the car into a million pieces. I was hugely pregnant and it nearly broke my heart!

Left my pair of Chaco flips on the roof of our rental car on vacay in California this spring. #sadness

Actually today I drove off with books from the library on my car and stopped when I thought I hit something. I realized then that I had forgotten about the books while trying to get the kiddos in the car. Another fun story is when I forgot my bible on top of the car. I drove for an hour and a half, was pulled over by a cop to let me know my bible was on top of my car. It stayed put the whole time and looked untouched. Even the random notes I had inside where untouched. Amazing!!

I can't believe some of y'alls stories! They've made me both laugh out loud and cringe from heartache. Thanks for sharing them with us :)

I know I am late leaving a comment but I once left my car keys and house keys on the roof. The minute they slid off, we knew what we had done. It was on the on ramp to the interstate. We went back and looked like weirdos scanning the ground for them. We never found them. Sigh. I am not a mom so I am not sure what brain I have other than a flawed one. ;-) haha!

My mom once drove to Walmart about 5 miles from the house. When she was at the light right before Walmart a man was frantically waving her to roll the window down and when she did he asked, "do you have a Siamese cat?" Our cat Jethro had been sleeping up there and got the ride of his life. She didn't want to risk him jumping off in the middle of the highway so she just got back in the car and made the turn into Walmart and got him down in the parking lot.

I also left my wallet, but it gave me one of my favorite stories to tell. I didn't realize that I had done it at the time, so several hours later, the bank called me to inform me that someone had found my wallet. The man gave the bank his phone number and asked for me to call him. When I did, he told me that he found the contents of my wallet in many pieces all over the street. Now I was recently divorced with a small daughter that I missed greatly every day that I wasn't with her. I carried about 20 pictures of her in my wallet and this kind gentleman walked around the intersection and picked up every credit card and, more importantly, every picture of my daughter. Credit cards can be replaced, but those photos would not have been. We scheduled a time to meet at a local store so he could return the wallet. Obviously, I offered him money as a token of my appreciation and he declined. He told me to pay it forward one day. Since then, I have found several wallets, credit/debit cards and other important items on the ground and have always returned them. I think of that man every time I do.
