{Gratitude Lately}

Friday, January 30, 2015

Lately I've been thankful for birthday brunches.

For stores that inspire.

For lunch with new friends.

For mornings spent listening to old LP's.

For bici's that tell a story.

For Ben Howard at the Ryman.

For winter trout caught on dry flies.

For freshly fallen snow on sunny days.

And for playing hide and seek inside with this cutie.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Tuesday brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Dear Papa}

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Thank you for getting up before the sun to get me dressed.

For making me smell like fabric softener.

For keeping me warm when you check the mail.

For bench pressing me in the kitchen.

And for letting me hold your beard while I wake up in the morning.
Love,
Brave

{Gratitude Lately}

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Lately I've been thankful for pre-morning stillness.

For the first family run of the year.

For leftover kale feasts for our ladies.

For denim cuties and the wonder of kicking feet.

For evening walks and electric blue skies.

And for a dozen Nord's donuts shared before a day fishing on the river.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Tuesday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Happy Martin Luther King Day!}

Monday, January 19, 2015

For the past six years we've celebrated Martin Luther King day with friends by cooking his favorite meal. {Fried Chicken, Sweet Potato Casserole, Macaroni & Cheese, Green Beans, & Pecan Pie}
We also try and watch a movie or documentary about MLK's efforts to end racial segregation.
If you haven't seen The Butler or 12 Years As A Slave we highly recommend them both!
This year Selma is at the top of our list to see.
As far as food goes, this year was our best fried chicken yet!
{Reason #73 why one should always save their peanut oil from the holidays}
YUM CITY.
Happy Monday, brave ones!
We hope your MLK day is memorable and inspiring.

{The Wheel}

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Being back in the studio yesterday was like riding a bike! A little wobbly at first but then smooth sailing.
I can't tell you how life giving it's been as a mom to still make time and space to do the things I love.
Looking forward to the next four weeks of slinging clay with my sweet friends Moll's & Kate!
If you live in Louisville and are interested in taking a pottery class be sure and check out
Payne Street Pottery Studio.
This is my third class there and Tonya and Amy are incredible teachers!
Happy Tuesday, brave ones!

{Today's Letters}

Monday, January 12, 2015

Dear Timothy James, last week you took your first Ju Jitsu class and today I get back in the studio at Payne Street Pottery. Fist pumps for kicking off the new year by channeling our inner Chuck Norris and Demi Moore. Dear Belly, you know you've puked one too many times when you pray God would turn you into a shoe or some other inanimate object that doesn't have an immune system. Thankful for Zofran and sweet friends who come to the rescue. Dear Lantern Bandit, I'd like to think you stole the lantern off our front porch because you're afraid of the dark. You must be related to the guys who stole our pumpkins last fall who are still busy baking me a pie. Dear Mr. Loerke, our sweet Brave has been doing toe touches for days. Can we sew a pocket into her first tutu for her skipping rocks and arrowheads?

Happy Monday, y'all! What's one class you'd like to take this year? I can't tell you how thankful and excited I am to get back to throwing mugs on the wheel!

{Shorelines Premiere} with April Vokey

Saturday, January 10, 2015

There's no other woman who is doing more for fly fishing than April Vokey.
Today is the premiere of her new show called "Shorelines."
I hope some of you tune in and watch it with me!
Here's a great clip reminding us we don't always have to be the best at what we do,
just the most passionate.
Happy Saturday, y'all!

Stay warm, y'all!

{Gratitude Lately}

Saturday, January 03, 2015

Lately I've been thankful for the smell of the Bungalow's wood burning stove.

For waving babes on birthday walks.

For Christmas memories turned chicken feed.

For my last trout of 2014.

For family who shows up when contractors don't.

And for kicking off the new year with bacon with a side of black eyed peas.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Saturday, y'all!
What have you been thankful for lately?
