{Holiday Gift Giving}

Saturday, November 21, 2015

One thing my dad has always been great at is giving thoughtful gifts.
Recently he surprised me with a cutting board and incense burner he made from
Brave's first Christmas tree.
I love how gifts don't have to be complicated to make someone feel known and loved.
A good reminder as this holiday shopping season begins!
Happy Saturday, y'all!

{Otter Creek}

We connect over lots of things, mostly milk and trout.
Happy Friday, brave ones!
How do you connect best with those you love?

{Weekend Thoughts}

Friday, November 13, 2015

Use what you've been given to see that which reminds you of your smallness.
Happy Friday, y'all.

{Dear Papa}

Thank you for taking me to see my first real horse.

For teaching me the importance of kindling.

For taking me to the pet store to watch the birds.

For holding me like an egg in your arms.

For helping me steer our ship at the playground.

And for letting me run as fast as your ice cream.
Love,
Brave

{Gratitude Lately}

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Lately I've been thankful for friends who show up with coffee and bread for French toast.

For the peace I feel when I'm outside with my family.

For leaf covered sidewalks.

For bass on the fly.

For sweet friends to celebrate.

And for the wonder of first hayrides.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Wednesday, brave ones!
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Dear Bravey Train}

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

You like to hide under the dining room table and play with Papa's kindling.

You can spend hours cracking open acorns with your little starfish fingers.

You like to lay in our compost pile after feeding rotten tomatoes to the chickens.

You wear your moccasins EVERYWHERE.

You still take naps in your sleep sack.

And your afternoon snack sometimes consists of bread you've dug out of the trash.
You . Keep. Me. Young.
I love you to the moon and back!
Mama

{Precious Time}

Monday, November 09, 2015

Yesterday we hiked through Cherokee Park, explored dry creek beds, and
made our first leaf angels of the season.
"Don't underestimate this precious time ..."
These moments are truly a gift!
Happy Tuesday, brave ones.

{Today's Letters}

Saturday, November 07, 2015

Dear Timothy James, thank you for setting out Brave's jammer's, diaper, and blanket before leaving for night shift. I smile with gratitude each time I see her bedtime buffet laid out on her bedroom floor. Dear Brave, we took you down the most decorated street in Louisville for Halloween. You made us laugh when you thought all of the ghosts were "sheep" and skeletons "scary babies." Dear 1991 Jeep Cherokee, you've taken Twinner on many adventures over the years. After selling the Prius it feels good to have you grafted into the Harvest House fleet! Dear Mr. Loerke, yesterday I drove away with a box of donuts on the roof of the car and you graciously picked them up out of the street while walking to the post office. Thank you for embracing all parts of me, especially my mom brain.

Happy Saturday, y'all! What's one thing you've left on your car and forgotten about?
