Dear Timothy James, after 35 years you finally got your first real pair of boots. Thanks Wolverine for making me check-out my dude from head to toe! Dear Bravey Train, lately you've been pushing around a broken spatula in your stroller. It brings me great hope knowing you'd still find a way to entertain yourself if you were ever stranded on a deserted island. Dear Marathon Runners In Training, watching you run in the rain at 7am Saturday was painfully inspiring. Thank you for reminding me to do hard things. Dear Mr. Loerke, for as much time as we spent on the lake growing up this is what every kid's dreams are made of. Let's channel our inner Don Johnson and build this thing! Over and out.

Happy Monday, brave ones. Speaking of marathon runners, are y'all training for any races this year? Thanks to a sweet reader, our family will be running the Christmas Story 5K in Cleveland, Ohio on December 3rd. We've already started eating our double beatloaf and drinking Ovaltine for training purposes. Hopefully some of you will be joining us as we receive our major award finishers medals at the Christmas Story House & Museum!

We'll be running in the Cooper River Bridge Run in April in Charleston, SC!!! My family ran in this race for years but I never did. I'm about to give birth, and my dream is to begin training slowly so I can cross the 10k finish line!!! 😃 this is a huge race for some reason - usually around 40,000 people. Wowzers 😳

I'm training for my first ever 15k (Nashville hot chocolate 15k!). Longest I've ever run so I'm nervous but excited (yikes). This morning's run was cold but worth it:)
Hope you're well, Em!

yessss cleveland! you guys will LOVE cleveland; must check out the west side market, the great lakes brewing company, mitchell's ice cream, little italy (presti's for tiramisu/cannolis, algebra tea house for its quirkiness), etc etc. such a good soul, Cleveland has.

It'll be my family's 3rd year for the Sportchek's Mothers Day Run & Walk in Calgary. It's in support of Calgary's NICUs. I think we might actually bike the 5K until the kids are old enough to run. We are ramping up our fundraising efforts, wish us luck :)
And good luck to you!

This is such a funny coincidence to read this post today - I am currently inputting my credit card info for the Dallas Rock n' Roll half marathon in March! It'll be my third half, first time doing the Rock n' Roll. Definitely love the idea of jamming out while pushing for those 13.1 miles. If only Cleveland were closer, the Christmas Story 5K sounds amazing! Those finish medals better have the leg lamp on them.

Sorry, I'm not a runner- my comment is about the boots! My husband and I recently decided we need to buy things that are meant to last a lifetime with good care, instead of things that are cheaper and only last a year. (ie- boots). What made you guys go with Wolverine?

jess, honestly a couple of our friends have wolverines for years and love them! they are made in the US and are high quality boots made for the long haul. we'd rather spend a pretty penny for something quality and have it for 20 years than buy cheap and have it last a season.
