May you take lots of spontaneous adventures sweet Bravey,
always include Van Morison in your road trip soundtracks,
stop at all road side fruit stands, remember to tip your late night mechanic with a cold six pack after your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere,
cherish memories more than you do things,
and always value depth over distance.

Thank you for being my watering hole.

For sharing your ice cream with me {I know it's your favorite food group}.

For holding me while the storms roll in.

For understanding my love for all things sprinkles.

And for instilling in me a love for open windows.
I love you more than Sunday morning donuts and blanket hammocks in the living room.

{Gratitude Lately}

Thursday, June 23, 2016

Lately I've been thankful for an afternoon of harvesting potatoes with Twinner.

For a backyard that reminds me of patient growth.

For Brave's fascination with tiny creatures.

For first fruits from the garden.

For donuts for lunch and birthday's to celebrate.

And for surprises that come in forms of weeds and dead lady bugs.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Thursday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

Dear Timothy James, yesterday we took Brave to see her first movie. Halfway through she took an intermission to eat the popcorn and M&M's off the floor. #parentingisgoodforus Dear Guest Bedroom, you've always felt like an unutilized space in our home until the other day when I saw Twinner's hat on our trunk. Grateful to finally have the Harvest House feeling full and complete. Dear Bravey, last night you fell asleep holding your lightening bug jar-- and I went to bed thanking the Great Lion of Judah for giving us such a cool little girl. Dear Mr. Loerke, when you stay up late organizing your fly box or tell me about the different kinds of chickens you'd like to one day have, my heart somersaults into a warmth of thankfulness to be married to you. Be mine forever?

Happy Tuesday, y'al! What good movies have you seen lately?

{Home & Garden Tour}

Saturday, June 18, 2016

Today the Harvest House is ready for the Highlands Home & Garden Tour!
We hope to see some of y'all from 11am-5pm.
Happy Saturday, brave ones!
UPDAAAATE: We had over 350 people come for the tour and not one bee sting {Insert fist pump here}.
We're truly grateful to have met so many creative and friendly people,
as well as raise money for our sweet neighborhood.
We love living in the Highlands!

In case you were looking for a morning soundtrack to your coffee, I'm currently enjoying this.
Reminds me a little of Nathaniel Rateliff with a side of Dylan.
Happy Friday, y'all!

{Dear Bravey Train}

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

You prefer to drive at 5 and 7 instead of 10 and 2.

Can eat your weight in roasted corn.

Like to channel your inner fairy princess at playgroup.

Enjoy playing with the hose as much as you do watering the garden.

Take the best passport photos.

And like do somersaults EVERYWHERE.
I adore all of these things about you.

Monday, June 13, 2016

A few weeks ago, Tim and I had another epic day on the water with our friend Patrick.
Not only did we lose track of how many fish we caught, we feasted on homemade chicken salad,
laughed a ton, and landed a couple of bowns on dries the last few casts of the day.
Patrick, you continue to humble us with your thoughtfulness, hospitality, and knowledge of fly fishing.
You are one of our most favorite people on the planet!!!

{Gratitude Lately}

Sunday, June 12, 2016

Lately I've been thankful for the scent of lavender when walking onto our front porch.

For changes at the Harvest House, big and small.

For guy's weekends and mountain stream bows.

For grounding conversations at new coffee shops on Market Street.

And for mornings with this wild one.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Sunday, y'all.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{36 Years to Celebrate}

Thursday, June 09, 2016

Yesterday Twinner and I celebrated our 36th birthday with a 36 min morning run,
ate bacon, coffee, and brownies for lunch, and had dinner at Holy Grale with friends.
It was simple goodness all. day. long.
Being together on our actual birthday was such a gift!
My wombmate is the most kind, gentle, thoughtful, and talented women I know.
Happy Birthday, sweet Twinner.
I love and adore you!

Dear Timothy James, last night Brave told me she liked my "hat" after after seeing my hair wrapped in a towel for the first time. Can we please have more babies? Dear Twinner, you had this great idea to celebrate our 36th birthday tomorrow by getting up early and running for 36 min. I promise you there will be lots of clapping, even if it's my thighs cheering us on. Dear Brave, your new bath trick is going underwater and listening to the beat while we tap the sides of our cast iron tub. I'm wondering how old you'll be when you realize our Morse code is really a Nelly song. Dear Chef Timosabi, the past few nights we've been watching an episode of Chef's Table before bed. Not only has this given me a deeper appreciation for those who prepare my food, but it's also made me appreciate the masterpieces you cook at home. Your culinary skills bless me!

Happy Tuesday errrrbody! Speaking of running, what's been your favorite form of exercise lately? CONFESSION: The other day I saw my road bike hanging in our basement and immediately felt a wave of shame rush over me for neglecting my old two-wheeled friend for so long. It took me a moment to realize that our forms of exercise can often change and that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad or wrong. My life looks so different since moving to Louisville three years ago, and with that has come new hobbies. Sometimes adapting can mask itself in false forms of neglecting. Don't be fooled, brave ones.

{The Cumberland River} Hatchery Creek

Saturday, June 04, 2016

Last week I got to experience my first time fishing Hatchery Creek at the Cumberland River.
Mol's and I managed to net a few good sized rainbows in exchange for a tick bite and
$30 worth of flies caught in log jams and deadfall trees.
It was a good trade if you ask me!

Wednesday, June 01, 2016

Dear Timothy James, last weekend you trimmed our neighbors trees and picked up my prescription after noticing it needed to be refilled. Both were done on your own initiative, both made me feel so loved. Dear Bravey Train, as a mom I've learned to value the gift of a 5 minute shower taken in solitude. Thank you for also showing me to value your company and the sweet reminder to look out our window and say goodnight to the chickens and potatoes. Dear 30 Minute Nap, I'm sorry I was so mean to you in kindergarten. As a mama, you make me feel like I won a vacation. Dear Mr. Loerke, lately you've been reading fly fishing books and sending me articles about nyphing and casting competitions. I love the things you teach me!

Happy Wednesday, Brave ones! What books have you been reading lately? After finding this article online I ordered this book. Can't wait to read it!
