{Today's Letters}

Monday, July 25, 2016

Dear Timothy James, after a year and a half, you're still faithfully setting out Brave's jammers and sleep diaper for her nap before you leave for work. Know your thoughtfulness to think ahead is hotter than than the fire that broke out in Sweet Brown's apartment. Dear Bravey Train, ever since you learned how to jump you've been leaping off of E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Your continued effort to live up to your name encourages me greatly! Dear July 25th, it feels fitting to drink a bottle of Ovaltine and dress like a deranged Easter bunny today since you mark 5 months until Christmas. Looking forward to decking the harrs with boughs of horry in New Zealand this holiday season. Dear Tim the Toolman Loerke, this weekend you have plans to build an outdoor rack to store all of our stove wood for winter. I fully expect your chest hair to grow at least an inch.

Happy Monday, y'all! Speaking of five months until Christmas, what's your all time favorite Holiday movie?

Dear Timothy James, recently we watched The Fundamentals of Caring. Two fist pumps for being one of our favorite movies of the year! Thank you for reminding us that nothing compares to patient growth and spontaneous adventure. Dear Crescent Hill Dad, last night I saw you riding a tandem bike with your blind daughter. Never before has Frankfort Ave seen so much love.  Dear Bravey Train, every day when you pour syrup onto your pancakes you say "good morning" to Aunt Jemima. You also think every cigarette on the sidewalk is a piece of chalk. I adore you. Dear Mr. Loerke {who always gets two letters}, 32 days until your 10 day backpacking trip to Wyoming. Already missing you more than bucking broncos and western wheat grass.

Happy Monday, y'all! Lots of good things ahead this week ...

{Hatchery Creek}

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

One of my favorite things to do is teach others how to fly fish.
Last weekend I got to watch my friend Carson land her first trout at Hatchery Creek!
We also managed to net a handful of brookies and rainbows.
The river was kind, even after a rainstorm that had 5 us huddling under a park map for almost an hour!
Happy Wednesday, y'all.

I remember taking Brave to Bryant's when she was just 2 months old.
She slept mostly in the Beco while I ate my post-baby weight in fresh blueberries.
It was a win-win for me in my new book of motherhood.
Last weekend Twinner and I took Brave back to Bryant's this time as a 2 year old.
Talk about an adventure that was both comical and magical!
Bravey definitely lived up to my Papa's motto of, 'Two for the mouth, one for the bucket."
Here's to a future jam-packed with blueberry cobbler, smoked blueberry pie, and blueberry preserves.
{always saving a jar to be opened on the day of winter's first snow!}
Happy Tuesday, y'all!

{Gratitude Lately}

Monday, July 11, 2016

Lately I've been thankful for two-wheeled date nights.

For afternoon game changers found in the form of $4.99 butterfly wings.

For peach Popsicles on the front porch.

For one of my favorite restaurants resurrected on Main Street.

And for our feathered ladies who continue to give us 3 eggs a day!
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Monday, brave ones.
What have you been grateful for lately?

Dear Timothy James, last week's two-wheeled adventure to dinner and a concert at Waterfront Wednesday made my inner 9 yr old so happy. Thank you for pushin' pedals with me on our date night! Dear Color, after watching this video I was reminded to never take another sunset or beach towel for granted. {Grab some Kleenex before watching}. Dear Self, you know it's time to dress up a little when you come downstairs in a white tank top and your 2 year old exclaims, "Mama, you look like a ballerina!" Dear Mr. Loerke, here's to growing in flexibility and spontaneity-- two of my {many} weaknesses that will hopefully one day become strengths.

Happy Saturday, y'all! You made it to the weekend! What's one weakness you'd like to see become a strength?

{Our Fifth Honey Harvest}

Wednesday, July 06, 2016

Recently we harvested our first batch of honey this summer.
Our bees graciously gave us over 45 lbs of liquid gold!
Thank morning toast and thank you afternoon tea.
You've never tasted better.

{Happy 4th of July!}

Tuesday, July 05, 2016

We spent the 4th of July camping, fishing, eating popsicles, and making homemade Samoa ice cream.
In the words of my hippy Papa, we hope yours was marked by lots of homemade ice cream over peach cobbler, sunscreen, and communal showers to save water!
What was the highlight of your holiday weekend?
Happy Tuesday, brave ones.

{Exciting News!}

Monday, July 04, 2016

After 18 years of not living in the same city, I couldn't be more excited to share that
my Twinner will be the new Wholesale Director for Quills here in Louisville!
Just in time before they start turning this 1897 firehouse on East Main into a roastery and cafe.
Good things happening in the 502 ... so many good things!
