{Friends Turned Family}

Monday, October 31, 2016

For the past year we've been meeting every week together as families.
Tim and I will be the first to admit we don't have this marriage or parenting thing figured out,
but knowing these friends are in our corner has made all the difference in the world!
Recently we spent an afternoon at Camp HiHo together.
We rode horses bareback, caught bass on streamers, and enjoyed each other's company by the bonfire.
It was one of my favorite days we've had as a family this fall!

So here's to the last day of my favorite month ...

{Gratitude Lately}

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Lately I've been thankful for evening walks with River.

For a husband who perseveres when fishing.

For mojito donuts and productive Saturday mornings.

And for sweet conversations between these two on the kitchen floor.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Wednesday, ya'll!
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Dear Papa}

Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Thank you for showing me the best kind of make up is face paint.

From honoring my perspective and playing with me down low.

For letting me lick the icing off your cookie at fall festivals.

And for always making me laugh until I squeal.

{Today's Letters}

Monday, October 17, 2016

Dear Timothy James, before I went out of town you left a note on my dashboard that I've since re-read a dozen times. Thank you for affirming me and for constantly being my greatest encourager. Dear Flannel Sheets, you're just as magical as Applesauce Spice Cake in the fall, books I can't put down, and saying hello to strangers. Dear Bravey, every time I do laundry I smile at all of the grass stains and dirty sleeves on your pink dresses. You are a girl through and through but equally love the outdoors. I love this about you! Dear Mr. Loerke, this week we get to dress up as a family for Boo at the Zoo, see the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Iroquois Park, and visit Camp HiHo for a bonfire and s'mores with friends. There isn't any other man I'd rather do these things with than you. Over and out.

Happy Monday, y'all! One thing you should know about Tim is he has a deep love and appreciation for all things festivals. We'd love to know what sort of fall activities / traditions you do as a family in the fall!

{Morning Thoughts}

Tuesday, October 11, 2016

A great reminder that the best toy a toddler can have is a parent who
gets down on the floor and plays with them.
Thankful this is one of Tim Loerke's greatest strengths!
What's one way you love to play with the kiddos in your life?

{Gratitude Lately}

Monday, October 10, 2016

Lately I've been thankful for a slower hustle.

For evening walks that end with cookies & cream pops.

For chilly mornings at The Gorge.

For the thoughtfulness of my wombmate.

And for morning memories made with dear friends.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Monday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Zion National Park}

Thursday, October 06, 2016

Zion National Park ... the place that took my breath away with its beauty, gave me my first
scorpion bite, and left us longing to come back.
Once a year I try and go someplace I've never been before.
This continues to be a great way for me not to escape life, but for life not to escape me!
Zion, you were better than coffee & chocolate at 7am.

{Northern Rim} Grand Canyon

Wednesday, October 05, 2016

There are some things you'll never forget like seeing the ocean for the first time,
riding a bike without training wheels, or getting your first speeding ticket.
The Grand Canyon was just as unforgettable.
Thankful for places that remind me of the tiny place I occupy in this world.
Happy Wednesday, errrrbody.

{Provo River} Utah

Tuesday, October 04, 2016

It's an amazing gift when you lose track of the number of fish you catch
while getting to look at beautiful mountains and hot air balloons taking off beside you.
The Provo was beyond good to us!
It gave me a new appreciation for catching feisty browns on size 26 midges and 7x tippet.
A special thanks to Ryan Stokes at Rocky Mountain Outfitters for an unforgetable day on the water!
Happy Tuesday, y'all.

{Fist Pumps for Our Favorite Month!}

Monday, October 03, 2016

Over the years, celebrating October 1st has become a big tradition at our house.
This year we built our first fire of the season in our wood burning stove while introducing
Bravey to the goodness of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon."
We also we ate corn dogs while walking around the St. James Art Fair and had a
rainy afternoon family nap.
We ended our day with with roasted s'mores, corn hole, and watching
Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin Escape with friends.
Everything about this month makes me happy.
So here's to flannels, leaf angels, football, and fall fishing.
October is going to be good -- really good.
PS- what's your favorite fall drink? I'd love to know!

Saturday, October 01, 2016

Worth 7:54 of your time.
Happy Sunday, y'all.

{Green River} Utah

Saturday, October 01, 2016

I've had the privilege of fishing some beautiful rivers over the last 5 years none of which
have been quite as amazing as the Green.
The trout are huge, the water crystal clear, and the red sandstone canyons deep as they are wide.
Moll's and I fished tiny dries all day and had some great success!
We both agreed we need to come back and spend 2 days floating the Green the next time we're in Utah.
Those eddy sippers are like crack!
A special thanks to Ryan at Spinner Fall's for such a memorable day on the water!
