{Fist Pumps for Our Favorite Month!}

Monday, October 03, 2016

Over the years, celebrating October 1st has become a big tradition at our house.
This year we built our first fire of the season in our wood burning stove while introducing
Bravey to the goodness of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon."
We also we ate corn dogs while walking around the St. James Art Fair and had a
rainy afternoon family nap.
We ended our day with with roasted s'mores, corn hole, and watching
Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin Escape with friends.
Everything about this month makes me happy.
EVERYTHING!
So here's to flannels, leaf angels, football, and fall fishing.
October is going to be good -- really good.
PS- what's your favorite fall drink? I'd love to know!

I adore fall! Growing up, my mom would always make "Christmas tea" when fall came around. The scent is heavenly!
Boil 1 gallon of water. Steep in 6 apple cinnamon tea bags. Add 3 cinnamon sticks, 10 cloves & 1 tsp of nutmeg.
Remove teabags. Add 1 large bottle of cranraspberry juice, 1 can frozen apple juice (or fresh cider), 1 can frozen orange juice and 1 small box of cranberry jello (any red will work or you can leave this out - I think it's mostly for color). Serve warm. If serving for a crowd, I like to toss in fresh apple and orange slices to make it pretty. The proportions can be played with - it always turns out delicious.

What a fun tradition! Our favorite fall drink (and I mean DRINK) is the Bourbon Bear. It's actually great for winter, too! We had it as our signature cocktail at our wedding, which was a December wedding. It's basically a ratio of 2:2:1 of spiced cider (Trader Joes is the best), ginger ale, and bourbon. They are ridiculous but go down real easy so you gotta be careful! It's become our tradition to serve Bourbon Bears to friends many times over the fall/winter months, and now a lot of our friends make them too. :)

This sounds and looks SO good! I always try to enjoy nature more and be more outside - but during the week it is almost impossible. It must be so great to spend time with the little ones! Wishing you a lot more great fall days! *Katharina
