{Time in The Windy City}

Monday, July 31, 2017

The people working at Heritage are just as good as their coffee, bici's, and breakfast burritos.
The Bean isn't so bad either.
Loved my time in Chicago!

{Dear Papa}

Sunday, July 30, 2017

Thank you for holding me during my first fireworks show.

For teaching me to appreciate Transformers and donutstaches.

For letting me take my chicken on family walks.

And for dressing up with me for the Beauty & the Beast play.
I love you more than Belle loves the Beast.

{Driggs, Idaho}

Saturday, July 29, 2017

Driggs, Idaho might be my new favorite small town!
It's about a 45 min drive away from Jackson Hole and offers lots of great food, local shops,
and even a fly shop that sells milkshakes!
It also has some wonderful areas to fish.
Taking toddlers fishing typically gifts us with many things-- a slower pace, opportunities to grow in patience, and lots of conversations about bug life, fence climbing, and respecting the river,
all of which can be just as satisfying as a net full of trout.
What do your hobbies teach you?
Happy Saturday, y'all.

{Gratitude Lately} Birthday Edition

Thursday, July 27, 2017

Last month I found myself feeling grateful for gifts that made me feel known.

For a friend who took me to breakfast and shared all of my favorite foods.

For a surprise trip to the the river with Molls.

And for an amazing dinner at Portage House with Tim.
So far, 37 has been my favorite year yet!
Not because it hasn't had moments of hardness, but because I'm taking care of myself more.
I've been attending Orange Theory twice a week since February and I love it!
I've also been in a monthly book club that has held me accountable to reading
and becoming more self-aware.
Tim and I have been learning a lot about having a threenager and what it looks like to stretch our imaginations and see things from her perspective.
Overall, my 30's have been some of the best years and I'm feeling grateful to be alive.
Happy Thursday, y'all.

{Today's Letters}

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

Dear Timothy James, recently Brave came running up to me holding this box. It was filled with things she had found on the playground-- wood chips, rocks, and a lavender bloom. Her appreciation for nature's simple gifts makes me so grateful to be her parents. Dear First Garden Tomatoes of the Season, I think you taste best when wrapped in basil woobies. Thanks for giving me another reason to fall in love with summer. Dear Crimetown & S-Town Podcasts, you had me wishing Raymond Patriarcha was still alive to deliver our Thanksgiving turkey this year. Here's to crooked cops, honest mobsters, and small towns with big stories. Dear Mr. Loerke, only nine more sleeps until you and my dad participate in your second annual Kentuckiana Green Egg BBQ Fest. Fist pumps for family pig shots and smoke rings all. weekend. long.

What's your favorite podcast? I'm in need of some company while I grocery shop!
Happy Wednesday, y'all.

One of my favorite memories with the girls in Wyoming was watching them net this 24" beautiful brown.
There are few things better than being surrounded by people who believe in you!
Who are the people you believe in?
Happy Wednesday, brave ones.

{Dooley Beloved} A Bachelorette Party Done Right!

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

Last week we were in Wyoming celebrating the marriage of Heidi & Tyler Dooley!
We spent a day fly fishing, drinking bourbon, eating burgers, sleeping outside,
and sharing laughs and tears around a sagebrush campfire.
Was this really a bachelorette party or was it my birthday??
What a gift to be surrounded by such strong and thoughtful women.
Who are some women you admire and respect?
Happy Tuesday, y'all!

{A Day We Knew Would Come}

Monday, July 17, 2017

We knew the day would come when we'd have to take Brave to the ER.
We just didn't think it would be because of an infected bee sting!
She handled it like a champ.
We'll take a $250 ER co-pay for extra cuddles.

{Dear Bravey Train} Letters from Mama

Thursday, July 13, 2017

Thank you for bringing out my inner wild thing.

For reminding me of the magical things down low.

For being a girl who commits when she's hungry.

For showing me that two are better than one.

And for helping me break routine and enjoy Popsicles on the roof.
I love the ways you change me Brave Richmond Loerke.
All my heart,

{A Glorious Celebration}

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

This video had me both laughing and crying in our kitchen this afternoon!
Here's to taking time to make those we love feel celebrated.

{A Pickin' Good Time}

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

A couple of weeks ago Brave and I took our friends Chels, Ava, and Silas blueberry picking.
This was the first year Brave was old enough to out-pick me!
We left with full bellies, sun kissed shoulders, and two exhausted kiddos who
enjoyed playing hide and seek in the fields as much as they did picking blueberries.
Kuplink, Kuplank, Kuplunk!
If you go picking don't forget to save some blueberries for homemade preserves,
always to open on the first snow of winter!
Happy Wednesday, y'all.
