{Gratitude Lately}

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Lately I've been thankful for road trips across the Bluegrass State.

For familiar faces. {My mama 1955, Brave 2014}

For autumn cortados and hand-me-down shirts.

For shared burgers and truffle fries at the best basement bar in Louisville.

For Wallabee and Smartwool wearing weather.

For bubble toupees and bath time with Papa.

For afternoons on the river with my best friend.

And for overall cuties and who love to dig in the dirt.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Tuesday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

If you couldn't tell already, fall is our favorite time of year to be on the river!
Brookville continues to be good to us and so does the weather.
Last Wednesday we caught 4 brown trout.
In exchange for getting heckled by three dudes with empty nets, they offered to take our family photo.
I thought this was a good trade considering they had to watch me land a 19" brownie.
Happy Thursday, brave ones.
What's one of your favorite things to do in the fall?

Dear Timothy James, the other day I left our front door wide open and forgot to add baking soda to my applesauce spice cake. Thank you for being patient with my sleep deprived brainbox. Dear Lack of Sleep, sometimes you make me want to pour coffee directly into my eyeballs. That's all. Dear Pumpkin Thief, whenever I see another pumpkin missing off of our front porch I tell myself you've been busy making me a pie. With homemade maple whipped cream. And a crust as thick as your head. Dear Husband, afternoon bath time with Brave has become one of the sweetest parts of my day. Thank you for taking this photo, even though it looks like she has a unibrow like Nicholas Cage.

Happy Wednesday, brave ones! Speaking of pie ... what's your favorite fall pie??

{Our Fifth Honey Harvest}

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Last week our friend Bryan helped me harvest one last frame of honey.
He did great!
It was his first time to open up a hive.
It was also his first time to catch a trout on a fly rod.
So many firsts!

Thank you for giving me airplane rides early in the morning after your night shifts in the ER.

For showing me how to blow bubbles.

For teaching me about smoked apple, cherry, and hickory wood with Papi.

For imitating a wild buffalo on our walks. #tatanka

For carrying me like a marsupial and dressing me in Rowan's hand me down flannels.

For teaching me the difference between the bench press and power clean.

And for keeping me warm while we catch brown trout on the river.
Love,
Brave

Lately I've been thankful for rainy afternoons, morning coffee, and a good read with a side of ice cream.

For funnel cake and pumpkin rolls at our local fall festival.

For dirty paws and time in the garden before 9am.

For morning worship and Sunday brunch with sweet friends.

For flannel shirts and fall days catching brown trout.

For outdoor flea markets and chilly afternoons.

For early mornings and Sunergos' pumpkin spice lattes.

For dear friends from out of town and the love they have for our offspring.

And for walks in neighborhoods that inspire me.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Friday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

Last Sunday we caught brown trout in Brookville.
Brave was fascinated with the sound of the water and loved watching the leaves fall into the river.
So thankful this pound of butter loves being outside as much as her mama.
Happy Tuesday, dear ones!
