{Our State Fair}

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

"Our State Fair is a great state fair
Don't miss it, don't even be late
{our State Fair is great}
It's dollars to donuts at our State Fair
It's the best State Fair in the state..."
- State Fair, 1945

Yesterday's eats included fried Derby pie, two corny dogs, a gyro sandwich, roasted corn, homemade
ice cream, local fudge, and a caramel apple that was washed down with a lemonade shake-up.
My. belly. is. still. full.
We also watched the great doberman dog show, saw a 217 lb watermelon, and were inspired to
enter our honey and homegrown veggies into next year's competition.
The most entertaining event {besides the 4-H exibit} was the FMX stunt show.
Dudes who can soar through the air on dirt bikes to Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle"
are M-A-G-I-C-A-L.
I can only make one conclusion after yesterday's adventure :
Kentucky, your State Fair is a great state fair ...
It's the best State Fair in the state.

Happy Wednesday!
What's your favorite thing to do and eat at the fair?

{Dear Papa}

Sunday, August 10, 2014

Thank you for swaddling me to sleep after you work the night shift in the ER.

For taking the time to explain to me how to smoke a brisket.

For letting me give you corncob kisses when I'm hungry.

For introducing me to Mr. T and the rest of the A-Team.

For doing stroller wheelies with me on our walks.

For making me smile while we swing on the front porch.

For letting me sleep through my first trip to Home Depot.

For making silly faces so I'll stop crying.

And for wearing your hat sideways so the sun doesn't turn me into a lobster.
I love you,
Brave

Today marks the beginning of our big West Coast adventure!
For the next 10 days we'll be driving from LA to Portland with these friends,
stopping at different places along the way to surf, eat, sleep, and fly fish.
I can't tell you how excited we are to be on vacation and hopefully meet some of you along the way!
Be sure and follow us on Instagram and Twitter for possible meet & greets.
And thanks to all of you who made suggestions of places to eat & things to do while we're in the PNW!
XOXO,

{Gratitude} Lately

Sunday, July 27, 2014

Lately I've been thankful for afternoon's working on the Airstream with these two.

For homegrown juicing materials.

For spontaneous road trips to Nashville for paletas.

For cool summer nights.

For beet kombucha found on my door step after a run.

For shared meals and time in the garden with friends.

For clean crevices.

For BLT's made with homegrown Cherokee Purples.

For daydreams of our upcoming trip to Cali.

And for friend's who bake 11 pies in 1 day for babes they have yet to hold.
Here's to gratitude and how it turns everything into enough.
Happy Sunday, brave ones.
What have you been thankful for lately?

{Celebrate}

On Saturday we celebrated Bek's birthday with
campfire brats, homemade chocolate cake, and conversation set
to the soundtracks of Lauryn Hill & Holly Williams.
It was simple goodness all around.
Being there made me realize how blessed I am to have these women in my circle.
Each one of them continues to inspire me in their own way,
always reminding the gift of truly being known.
